Re: Nmea 2000 simulator software

I think you're confusing NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000. The former uses text strings over a 4800 baud serial port, the latter is quite different.

Re: ElectroScan low amps warning

Looking through the manual for the STC, and it's hard to imagine how this would make a difference. But it appears to do so? Very curious, definitely something worth looking into further...

Re: Family dog is getting old... Some ideas.

I know how you feel! I’ve lived aboard for three years with two Rottweilers, and the older one is starting to have issues. His hips are starting to give him pain, and in compensating for that he...

Re: Sailboat gear for sale

Unfortunately the serpentine belt kit is not the right one for my engine, but I may still be interested in the set, and then work with PKYS to get the right bits to make it work. Can you tell me the...

Re: Sailboat gear for sale

Hi,

I'm interested in the Iridium Go, and the alternator kit if it would fit my 4JH2-HTE. I'll send you a PM. I am currently in West Palm Beach.

Re: Seawater Pro Watermaker review. Part 2

You just won’t give up will you? Despite how much of a fool you’ve made of yourself, you’re determined to reinforce the point over and over. Give it a rest, will you! Go whine somewhere else, to...

Re: Seawater Pro Watermaker review. Part 2

I have the pickling tablets, but have not used them as I live aboard and make water 1-2 times per week, no need to pickle yet. I have thought about the best way to do that, and did notice that there...

Re: Seawater Pro Watermaker review. Part 2

Go ahead, make an ass out of yourself. Or perhaps I should say "more of an ass out of yourself"? The only person you are fooling is yourself.

Re: Seawater Pro Watermaker review. Part 2

This is the kind of system you SHOULD install yourself, so that you know your system, and how to maintain and troubleshoot it in the future. Paying a "professional" does not guarantee a proper...

Re: Falling in a vessel at a boat show

I find this entire thread to be a sad indictment of our society, and the unwillingness to take personal responsibility when accidents happen. Bad stuff happens to us all sooner or later, how we...

For every one dissatisfied person I can find you 100 or more satisfied ones. This guy must have done something bizarrely wrong when installing his system to have issues like this, and Mike has...

Re: THE MAGICAL BOAT ?

I don't know why some people are such a***holes :banghead:. The OP's question is quite real - I know, I went through the same process. If either of you come near my boat, I'll introduce you to the...

Rotties on boats are near and dear to my heart, and I went through a similar process to you. I have two Rotties - a 10yr old male named Bear who weighs around 90lb, and a 6yr old female named Ellie...

Drilling holes in spars - does it significantly weaken them?

I'm considering drilling a row of holes in my boom to rivet on an awning track along its length. My concern is how much might it weaken the boom? Same thing goes for the mast (no, no awning track...

Re: Seawater Pro Watermaker review. Part 2

I recently installed a dual-membrane 110VAC Seawater Pro unit in my Catalina 470, replacing an old Spectra Newport 400 that was just getting too expensive to continue repairing. Mike at Seawater Pro...

Re: 2-Stroke vs 4-Stroke Outboards

You can still get parts for old 2-stroke motors in the US. I have a 1999 Johnson 15hp 2-stroke, and haven't, yet, had any issues. In fact I just received a replacement throttle cable in the mail...

Re: ICW Question- East Coast Florida

You should not have many issues with a 6ft draft. I live aboard in the area, with an almost 8ft draft. The ICW is plenty deep for your draft, and the St Lucie inlet is quite manageable, even with...

Re: Properly sealing new chain plate through the deck.

+1 on the Bed-It butyl tape. That's exactly what I used when rebedding my chainplates, stuff is truly the best thing for sealing anything that attaches to, or goes through, your deck. I have never...

Re: What dog breed if any???

If you want a dog for security, get a Rottweiler! I live aboard full time with two Rotties, and no one, I do mean no one, comes on our boat uninvited! ;-)
