Re: PVC vs Hypalon in the Tropics?

Thats interesting.
I had a phone conversation with Swift Marine and was told my dinghy (from memory a 280) would not be worth repairing and also that they don't carry spare tubes for the Highfields.

Re: PVC vs Hypalon in the Tropics?

I have a PVC Highfield inflatable. After about 6 years hanging on davits it's starting to deteriorate. This is in subtropical climate (27* south)
I suspect Hypalon would last much better although...

Hi Annsni
Like you I have a Catalina 42 and need to replace the teak and holly floor boards. Did you end up completing your project with the Lonseal product? If so, which product did you go with and...

Re: Vacuum in Head

Maybe this is obvious to others but took me awhile to figure out. The handle on my diverter valves points to the closed position (hose) which is opposite to what I expected.

Re: Winchrite for mast raising and lowering

Hi Glenn,

I have a winchrite for raising the main. I find I get as much torque as with a regular winch handle. If you use a winch and crank by hand now I think the winch rite will work fine

Re: Hydraulic steering issues, air, leaking, valves??

That's what I would do. If there is no bleed nipple I would just crack the fitting. As long as you're holding some weight on the wheel, oil will come out of the pressurized line and no air will get...

Re: Hydraulic steering issues, air, leaking, valves??

Make sure that the reservoir is full. Turn the wheel lock to lock. The air will usually work its way to the highest point. If not, hold the wheel hard to port or starboard while cracking the...

Aren't DC motors bi-directional by reversing the polarity? My windlass motor has poles for up/down (forward/reverse). Any ideas of power needed?

Great answer except it's 1kg = 10N (Newton) Nm is a measure of torque not force

Re: Dear Maxwel HRC10-X owners
