Re: Broad reach - should I use my main?
If you still have difficulty furling your jib/genoa after you've turned well downwind, I suggest you try easing your jib/genoa halyard tension. On my boat, with a pretty old furler, more halyard... |

Re: Pre-Purchase Surveyor in San Diego
I used Kells Christian 2 1/2 years ago and found him to be very good. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again. |

Re: Catalina 27, troubles, upgrades, and enhancements?

Re: Westerbeke 71C Raw Water Pump
Here's an online site that had a pump that worked for my small Westerbeke. https://marinepumpdirect.com/ Good Luck |

Re: I could use some advice choosing a sailboat
As many have said, you can't realistically buy a bought to sail around the world on if you aren't an experienced sailor. If I were in your situation I'd go looking for a modest coastal cruiser in... |

Re: Dana 24
I got a ride on Dana 24 a couple times out of Morro Bay, California (think lots of wind and waves). The owner (Ken Muther) was pretty old, but singlehanded in nasty weather with no difficulty. It... |

Re: Cal Sailboat owners _ UNITE!
I have a 1978 Cal 2-27 in Channel Islands Harbor (near Ventura, California) that still needs lots of work, but is getting better gradually. I mostly sail singlehanded, so I'm very interested in... |

Re: Monitor Windvane LIKE NEW
Would possibly be interested, but until you buy a daily newspaper for a buck to include in your photos (to help convince us of your legitimacy), I think most forum members will assume your offer is a... |

Re: one or 2 burner stove...
I used to use a Jetboil stove for backpacking. One thing to note is they boil water really quick, but they are not so great for simmering. |

Re: Albin Vega 27
If $16,000 seems like a lot for a Vega in excellent condition, then I don't think you could afford the $1,000 Vega. |

Re: Cal 31 yaws and rocks badly when sailing in waves
Are you sure you have let the mainsail out far enough? Remember "When in doubt, let it out". I think broad reaching with a mainsail too close to the centerline will exacerbate the rounding... |

Re: Berth Lengths for Albin Vega, Rawson 30, Alberg 30 and the like?
Quote from the last linked website: The Vega has comfortable bunks for four, two 6-footers and two of 6 feet 6 inches, but it would be a mistake to plan on long ocean crossings with four adults.... |
