Re: Using multiple electric trolling motors on a 34' catamaran

Do some homework. Look at ePropulsion electric 8hp equivalents. They are less expensive than Torqueedo and out perform them. Putting one on each hull would readily move 11000 lbs at about 7 knots....

Re: Older style furler requires climbing mast to lower sails?

Any furler system that requires one to climb the mast in order to hank on or remove the sail would be anti thematic. The entire idea of the furling system is to simplify the sailing experience. I...

Re: YouTube Sailors - Overly Romanticized Or Just Lacking Details?

You have a little bit of both. YouTube presentation do give a bit of a taste of the “real” difficulties but don’t give a realistic presentation of what you’ll encounter. We, like yourselves, opted...

Re: Newbie water in Mexico ?

John,
I used to charter fish with Sammy Sausarrey aboard Amigo. His boat runs out of the Marina behind hotel Coral. We often took our catch (okay, a small part of it) to the hotel to be...

Re: Do I dare use 5200??

[QUOTE=Suijin;2615730]5200 gets a bad rap. It's an amaaaaazing sealant because it's an amaaaazing glue. I just stripped my whole deck, 32 years old, everything bedded in 5200. Found one small leak...

Re: Most hazardous area for navigation in continental US?

Couldn't agree more. The severe Artic storms and the massive tidal swings present some very frightening conditions that prevent even the hardiest of vessels from entering. Those boats in the...

Re: Antifouling before or after storage

The best time is the time closest to returning to the water. Most antifouling by its very nature wants to degrade (even on land) with time. There are a few non ablatives that are hard shell and...

Re: Took a Bullet at Midnight...Happy New Year

I am not trying to be insulting but licensing or decrying the sales of guns w/o some sort of governmental regulation is not only inappropriate, its unconstitutional. Reality tells me that regulation...

[QUOTE=LLCoolDave;2524138]Hi all, I'm looking for my first boat and want to liveaboard. One boat I'm interested in is the Aloha 32. Two layouts were offered one had a v-berth and the other has a sail...

Re: No longer a wannabe!

I would agree. you've spent a healthy chunk of change but telling people you were over your expected cost is not a realistic evaluation if you were able to allow for a $40,000 pre purchase expenses...

Re: Why is my boat faster on a stbd tack?

As mentioned by others, no sailing vessel is perfectly symmetrical. The sails, rigging and sea conditions also come into play (never mind the wind. LOL.). Try creating your sought equality by...

Re: Dumb toilet ("head") question

I hope you made an error 100m = 100 meters or just over 300 feet. That's either a marvelously large vessel or you have your toilet up the flagpole. Even the largest of cruising Cats don't have...
