Re: Winston LiFePO4 battery problem?

Re: Notes on adding two 6 kW pod drives to supplement or reduce use of

The old rule of thumb was around 2hp per pint as good fuel efficiency, that gives around 12 Kwh per gallon or 16hp per gallon. Play ball.

Re: US coasts sea level rise 10 to 12 inches by 2050

Jack, can you produce empirical data for the world's climate warming? The answer is NO! unless you take 0.13 degree C rise in temperature per year since 1979 from Satellite data as dangerous warming?...

Re: US coasts sea level rise 10 to 12 inches by 2050

Sydney Australia has had 3mm 1/8" per year in the last 40 years when the most C02 was introduced in the atmosphere. 120mm and the east coast of Australia (Sydney) is sinking due to continental drift....

Re: Flat Earth Debate

I totally agree as people can be convinced that there is Man-made C02 causing devastating warming of the earth with no empirical evidence for it at all.

If someone could produce some for the last...

Re: Freestanding mast opinions wanted

I am also curious if you have sailed a well-rigged junk. I prefer the junk for cruising as they are so much and safer, easier, less work, and can reef easy from the cockpit, they have so many...

Re: Heavier anchor or more chain?

I would get a Spade anchor that resets easily (Rocna and other Bar anchors are notoriously bad at re-setting, especially in weedy bottoms, they do not have enough tip weight) with that chain and a...

Re: Ever seen a UFO?

Moving at a million miles per hour is not breaking the laws of Physics.

Filmed IFO's doing close to these speeds, changing direction, splitting into two or three, and then into the shape of a...

Re: Anyone able to get their hands on Admiralty Chart 5308 (World Sailing Ship Routes

Well spotted Stu I clicked the wrong quote, yes 1923 and the 1950 chart 5308 is on there as well, and might be lucky and get the 1973 chart from the library in 2024.

Re: Electrochemical damage to wooden boats. It's a thing

Replace the Stainless prop shafts back with the original Bronze shafts and remove the zinc anodes. You can test this with silver chloride testing equipment for around $300 AUD. Test before and after,...

Re: Electrochemical damage to wooden boats. It's a thing

100 to 1 bet someone had replaced the bronze prop shaft with a stainless shaft and then put anodes on her, then the disaster begins.

Re: Electrochemical damage to wooden boats. It's a thing

Spend many years in boatyards and you find 10 types of osmosis in polyester sometimes causing nightmares for the owners.

Eg. "Darling the shipwright said we need to plane peel the whole boat,...

Re: Electrochemical damage to wooden boats. It's a thing

Known as "Alkaline degradation"

There is no need for anodes if the boat is designed built correctly using the correct metals and bonding the through-hulls, not creating a potential difference. The...

So it would have been more catastrophic in either the Minoan, Roman or Medieval warm periods as it was hotter then than now in the ice core results but amazingly C02 levels according to the IPCC and...

Yeah the last time the climate was hot in Australia in the 1890's, is when we had our worst recorded Cyclones and the temperature now is rising back up to those record temps 100 years later. So one...

Re: Anchor alarm app stopped working on iPhone

I have done that because of covid 19. What a disastrous system compared to IOS. I now see why they give the name cAndyRIOD.

Desperately waiting for the iPhone 12 and not have my old iPhone fixed.
