Re: 1969 Columbia 36

I've been living on my Columbai 36 for a couple of years. Prety comfortable for one but a little cramped for 2. She sails pretty well, reasonably straight if not all that close to the wind. If...

Re: Wiring behind the electronics panel

Time to get out the multimeter.... but I have to agree with one above. This type of spring connector is going to be prone to vibration and corrosion in a marine environment. Replace with screw...

Re: Living on legal Mooring while holding a job?

Hey! I'm your twin..... a little older but in a similar position. Been pretty much living aboard for the last year on a mooring. The biggest issues are listed above but the one that is the...

Urethane vs Varnish

Boy am I confused, My local paint store has completely different advice than the internet, where no two posts seem to be able to agree either.

My question: Spar Varnish vs Spar Urethane? I am...

Re: Might or Might not have made the biggest Mistake of my life

If this is what you love just go for it. I'm in a similar situation but in my 60's. Getting rid of all the "stuff" can be very therapeutic and once it's all gone your cost of living can be...

Re: Curved vs straight traveler

Thank you for the answer I was looking for. It's spring curved horizontally, needs to be replaced or repaired and sits on a boat built in 1969. No racing for me. Much easier to make it straight.

Curved vs straight traveler

I am in the middle of re-finishing a 1969 Columbia 36. The mainsheet traveler is pretty rudimentary and has a slight bend sprung into it to keep it centered on the mounting area at the aft end of...

Re: Marina space or mooring in San Diego

San Diego mooring company usually has temporary moorings in the bay downtown. There is also a "visitor" mooring field in San Diego Bay but I'm not sure how long you can stay. SDMC will know.

Re: Which AC/DC fridge??

Chris, Which Novakool model? Do you find the front load loses too much cool when the door is open? I'm considering the 3803 to hug the side and run off solar

Re: Which of these boats for ICW/Caribbean?

I would go with the Bavaria, more privacy for the kids which will be a BIG deal over a two year span at their ages, also shallower draft
