Re: Fire extinguisher quandary

Re: Fire extinguisher quandary

You make some valid good points. If I was an professional engine mechanic or marine electrician I would probably have the appropriate extinguishers that limit damage. I think in that situation its a...

Re: Fire extinguisher quandary

What you said isn't true. Fire tactics are changing all the time and so is the research. Unless you're in the fire service you wouldn't know.

Spreading falsehoods about a profession because you...

Re: Fire extinguisher quandary

I'm just saying a boat fire that's been allowed to go unnoticed from ignition point and left to grow unabated for 5 - 10 minutes without suppression is beyond the scope of a handheld extinguisher.

Re: Fire extinguisher quandary

An ABC extinguisher covers all incipient fire scenarios on a boat including electrical. Basic cooking safety and common sense can prevent most cooking fires.

A boat fire in the ignition stage can...

Re: Fire extinguisher quandary

NFPA = No Fing Practical Application. Its a fire suppression joke, universally accepted.

We use ABC extinguishers for life safety applications on a daily basis. Using your logic we should have...

Re: Fire extinguisher quandary

While this logic can make sense, its not as simple as matching the extinguisher to the product and calling it a day. I personally wouldn't recommend this method.

An ABC extinguisher would do all...

Re: Fire extinguisher quandary

I agree with your friend.

Just use ABC extinguishers. I've put out many fires big and small with them. They work great. Reliable. Easy to use. Safe and effective. They make a big mess but so does...

Re: Downsizing to a pocket cruiser/Trailerable Sailboat?

Ya thats true. The old cruisers can be difficult. I think you're right simple and easy is a priority. Did you have any regrets selling your 44 foot boat?

Re: Remove old lettering from Sail Bag?

Thanks for the replies.

I'm gonna go with your advice and just panel over it. This lettering is like road paint. I'd need a grinder to get it off
