Re: Nasty new clause from Pantaenius Insurance

Re: Australian International Boat Purchase 'Legal Tax Avoidance'

Forget Scenario 2 unless you are certain that HMRC can't get your money in Australia. Owning a boat in a UK company means that you will be taxed for Benefit In Kind and it would be cheaper to import...

Re: EU VAT paid status

The taxman does not have to prove anything in any country that I'm aware off. The taxman can say that you owe them money and will leave you to prove that you are not.

A boat does not have a VAT...

Re: EU VAT paid status

Only if the sale is inside the EU VAT area.
I suspect that most gets away with it since VAT checks on older boats are very rare but definitely don't tell a customs officer in the EU that it was...

Re: Prevent loss of VAT-paid status when purchasing outside of the EU

It means that the seller is trying to fool you or he was fooled when he bought it. VAT is due if sailing it back to the EU VAT area if it changes hands outside the EU VAT area.

Re: Carribean working visa

I believe that even a British citizen needs a work permit for BVI and a EU citizenship means nothing. I don't know about the French or Dutch Islands but I would be surprised if a EU citizen would not...

Re: New rules for entering Europe from 2024

Re: New rules for entering Europe from 2024

ETIAS may happen sometime in 2024 but it's already been delayed several times. Don't worry about it until it happens. If going to the UK you will soon need an ETA.

Re: Sweden - question...

Gota canal will take you to the east coast and it will also take you to lake Vanern from where you can use Trollhatte canal to get to the west coast. Both can be done with the mast up.

Re: Left hanging by Pantaenius

How would they know from your address if you are a homeowner? In the UK they usually ask on the application form if you are.

Re: Left hanging by Pantaenius

Try Pants in the country you are a citizen. Many UK insurance and banks can't do insurance or bank accounts with EU residents after Brexit.

I would consult a lawyer specialising in EU imports before trying that scam. Tax fraud is a criminal offence.

Re: Prevent loss of VAT-paid status when purchasing outside of the EU

Re: Prevent loss of VAT-paid status when purchasing outside of the EU

There is no legal way to do what you want to do. Buying in Martinique would make no difference either, all French overseas departments are excluded from the VAT directive.

Re: Performance vs Comfort 50-foot Cats - real difference

Why don't you do what you want to do and let him do what he wants to do so that this thread does not pop up on the top of the homepage just because you want to argue about it again?

Re: Closing up Catamaran Escape Hatches
