Re: Are the cuts in the Bahamas really that dangerous?

A rage in a Bahamian cut is MUCH worse than haulover. I have seen 13' waves in a B rage, unrelated to tidal flow.

I recommend Rob Eberle. He has done several boats for me in the past and will come to Oriental.

Re: Floating Bar in State waters?

There are moving ones in Wilmington, NC, like BrewBoat.com and SeaLegsPedalPub.com and stationary ones like Anne Bonnys Bar and Grill moored downtown.

Re: Mateo to Ocracoke via Old House Channel

I have taken that channel once or twice. Pretty well marked. There was one thin spot where a shoal was developing. The harbor master at Manteo knew the problem areas and was very helpful. The...

Re: Admiral Cats

We have a 2006 Admiral 38. Great boat with surprising amount of room for 38'. No special maintenance considerations (yanmar, raymarine, etc).

Re: rPI3 + openplotter -> is it a viable solution?

I am running OpenCPN on the android tablets. I also run DragQueen and NKE Display (a NMEA display app) native on the android tablets. They are both linked to the RPi3 via WiFi (the RPi3 is an...

Re: rPI3 + openplotter -> is it a viable solution?

I am using a Boox for the e-ink display. I believe it is the C67ML. You need to side load most apps, like OpenCPN, NMEA Display and some do not run (like DragQueen). But, it has the big advantage...

Re: rPI3 + openplotter -> is it a viable solution?

I am using an e-ink tablet in the cockpit and a fire tablet under the Bimini. They both run openCPN and get node red, signalK or NMEA data streamed from a Pi3 below. All inexpensive. I've been...

Re: OpenPlotter project

I have the C80 plotter as well.

In order to get it to work, I had to redirect all the AIS data to the Raspberry Pi first. I also reprogrammed the NMEA port on the C80 to 38400 baud. The C80...

Seems to be working fine on 0.50.
Same problem on RasberryPi 2 and 2+

Re: Hot water system stopped working from engine heat exchanger

Are the hoses leading to and away from the heater hot? If so, the problem is in the hot water heater. If not, you may have air in the lines.

You may want to check out the Office of Naval Research self driving boat competition. MIT won this year with a self driving RIB, I think.

We used a trolling motor for years on our dinghy. Worked great for short hops. Finally switched to a gas outboard to be able to more exploring in the dinghy.
