Re: Conversion from one to two steering pumps

Thanks for the further tips here.

I have now learned that check valves are absolutely necessary when using two pumps...

Yesterday I tried paralleling them without check valves, just to see what...

Re: Conversion from one to two steering pumps

Thank you Nicholson58 for the input.

For information, there is only one reservoir in this system... as it's originally a single pump installation, and the two pumps are just connected in parallel....

Conversion from one to two steering pumps

Probably some of the members here are knowledgeable about hydraulics?
I seem to be out of my depth..!
Here is the story:

My motorboat has two inboard engines. One of them drives a hydraulic...

Western to Eastern Malaysia in June - through Anambas

Is anyone here planning or wishing to sail eastwards now in June, from Western to Eastern Malaysia through the Anambas?

We are a couple on a motoryacht, planning to make the crossing during the...

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

A big thanks to Paul and the others involved, for making this gem of a utility :-)
I am just getting started with GE2KAP, and impressed so far.

What is the consensus regarding the red dot in...

Re: Basic question regarding charts.

For companies, competition is bad for profits, and any business will naturally seek to avoid it. Been there, done that.

Luckily for them, customers are very much attracted to closed systems....

Re: In a galaxy (marina??) far, far, away....

This is an international forum. It would help if you'd mention where in the world you are... But I guess "states" here refers to the USA :-)

Also, there is nothing obvious about the logistics...

Re: 48V as main DC voltage on boat - anyone?

Here is one aspect that would probably not be an issue: Lights.
24V light bulbs are easy enough to find, LED or otherwise...
So just connect two in series, everywhere some light is required.
Red...

Re: A non US citizen with Delaware registration flys what flag?

It also works the opposite way. Say, if three partners own a boat just on mutual understanding and there is no registered corporation in place... Then, what if one of them gets into trouble for...

Re: Do you enjoy ?...

I learned from my father that this factor is actually 3.14.

By the way, there is also a safety aspect to all this... When things go pear-shaped and stuff starts breaking down far from shore, a bit...

Re: A non US citizen with Delaware registration flys what flag?

"Safe" is a bit of a stretch though ... I think it is more correct to say "isolated".

A core purpose of setting up a corporation is to isolate some assets and liabilities from the owners... so if...

Re: A non US citizen with Delaware registration flys what flag?

With all respect, you seem to be mixing up things here. Where to even start?
First, there is no such thing as a sham corporation. A corporation is a legal person and has a number of rights and...

Re: Credit Cards when living onboard

I don't know about the US, but in much of Europe banks demand not only to know a physical address ... They will also wish to see a utility bill issued to the same address. Like an electric bill. As...

Re: A non US citizen with Delaware registration flys what flag?

You should not refer to "evasion" unless you believe a crime has been committed.

What Is the Difference Between Tax Avoidance and Tax Evasion?
No one likes to pay taxes. But taxes are the law....

Re: Which Inverter?

I got myself a super cheap Chinese unit. May not last long but I believe it's not an essential ship system anyway... Like my TV set, it does not need to be marine grade etc.

Re: Owner Financed Catamaran? - And some advice
