If you want to anchor, and stay in the spot you anchored, get a spade anchor, a Rocna, a Mason, or other spade anchor.

No requirement to checkout of the US, with the decal you can check in with your phone, after crossing the imaginary border line, you’ll get a text that you are checked in/or you need to go to customs.

My understanding is that air being sucked into the system will damage the membranes. I’d suggest a tank to continuously fill, and draw from while underway, to prevent air entering your system.

Unfortunately, Yanmar created this problem with an aft facing water pump (behind the motor mount).. On later versions of this engine, Yanmar used a forward facing pump, problem solved.
