Re: Cavalier 39 v Van de Stadt 37 for a

Our chain plates can be visually inspected from inside cupboards. They appear in good order but it has always been something weighing on my mind. Not a particularly difficult task to replace and next...

Re: Cavalier 39 v Van de Stadt 37 for a

Hi TP
The Cavalier 39 has turned out to be an excellent choice, we've done a lot of upgrades on her since owning her but she sails well and has handled some heavy seas well. She's admired by others...

Re: Threading stainless into plastic

Ok to clear up conversation points...
I had the T section made because it needs to fit in a confined space and my buddy is an engineer who made it for me.
The deck wash is a low pressure system...

Re: Threading stainless into plastic

Ok you've convinced me... we're drying out on the piles on Friday and swapping out the plastic season for a brass one then screwing the T section into brass.

Re: Threading stainless into plastic

Boats in the water. We can't swap out hull fitting without drying out.
Standard hull fitting size ( around 50mm)

Threading stainless into plastic

We've just had a friend fabricate a T fitting that feeds the inlet pipes for the head and deck wash.
It will need to screw the stainless male section into the plastic hull fitting. I'm planning to...

Re: Polyurehane 2 pack paint question

Thanks coop
It certainly looks good from 5m back. I'm tending to agree. Probably more to be lost than gained by putting more work into it.
Cheers

Re: Polyurehane 2 pack paint question

Ok so I recorded after sanding back the last coat and it now looks much better. There are still some brush lines visible where I tipped after rolling. I'm tempted to give the hull a cut and polish to...

Polyurehane 2 pack paint question

I'm hauled out and painting topside with altex 2 pack polyurethane paint by tipping and rolling.
I've put 3rd coat on but there are a few patches where we had a roller break down.
I'm thinking...

Re: Transpac 49

Thanks HankI've seen the nz listing and you're correct on all points. The nz one doesn't have teak decks and that is the point that concerned me the most with the others. Seattle is positioned nicely...

Transpac 49

Hi people. I'm doing a bit of dreaming about bigger boats and landed on a 1980 Transpac 49 parked up in Seattle on Yachtworld. Anyone know of these vessels. Look like an affordable 50'...

Re: Ground out the osmosis

Thanks everyone.
Jedi that's pretty much my plan except for the pressure wash. I'm edgy about forcing water at the glass. I think I'll just wipe with acerone instead.

Ground out the osmosis

Hi all.
I finally decided to grind out the blisters on my hull. I'm up to around 70 now. Some are deeper than others. In all cases I ground in until I popped the weeping bubble and then kept going...

Re: Sailing Zatara causing some Pacific ripples

Yes. Little risk of them carrying the virus. Only risks are losing some viewers... and damaging the reputation of the many NZ cruisers who stayed home this season. Our Pacific Island neighbours have...

Re: Please help me with Hydraulic steering issue

Thanks Coop... yes that added a lot of perspective. Seems like 3.5 turns is the norm and will create more resistance at the wheel and return some “feel”
I’ll buy some time from a good hydraulics...
