Re: Delivery -> sleigh ride

I've been lurking without posting for a while, but after reading this thread a few times over and thinking about it, I want to put in a plug in support of Mack.

If I was sailing in excess of 10...

Station Keeping in a Strong Current, Niagara Falls

Okay, I figured I may as well give this one more try. I'm just goofing around with my Handycam for fun. The video is not monetized by me, but the sound track is by somebody I do not know. I have...

Re: Rum ship aground!

Coincidentally ran aground the same day the Pot Head Prime Minister won a sweeping majority government.

Canadians better be careful or they'll get a reputation for being a bunch of drunken...

Re: Shipping Batteries

Not sure if this is the kind of info you're looking for. They are dangerous goods, so it will be air cargo, not checked baggage, but I'm thinking you already know that.

Re: Engine circuit breaker tripping

Hey, I'd love to have a nice newly installed Westerbeke and associated electrical. I'm just accustomed to an older style of motor. Mines a pain to start 1 (maybe 2) days out of 5. We all have our...

Re: Where are all the beautiful people?

This is an easy one for me. It was the Marina 4 winter live aboard community in Toronto. Best neighbours ever, and some very good friends too.

Re: Legal aspects of living aboard in Nova Scotia (Canada)

Canadian government gifting land? I sincerely doubt it.

Re: Engine circuit breaker tripping

That's a crazy set up. I was having electrical problems on my Perkins (5.108) this spring, got a jump from a tow truck at a lock wall and finished my voyage (another 100 miles or so) with no...

Re: input on minimum bunk size for cruising couple?

I wasn't familiar with the Faralon 29, so I googled it. Kind of a unique V-Birth arrangement. Its hard to gauge from the pics how much room you have over your chest.

I think your idea to...

re: Electrical?

Not sure where you are, but I'll give you my philosophy in Canada. If I can't fix it with spares from Canadian Tire, I don't buy it. 24 volt stuff is hard to find at Canadian Tire.

That would be really cool functionality if they did. I have bridge problems around my home area and I'm constantly pulling my hair out with bridge clearance research.

Re: Boat Help

Coveyrise, a sailing location or home base might help people to advise as well. You don't want the same boat for the Florida Keys as you might for Norway for example. I'm guessing by your boat...

Re: Legal aspects of living aboard in Nova Scotia (Canada)

Skip, language shouldn't be a problem. First off, Canada is bilingual, so if your French is better than your English, just use your French.

Generally speaking Canada is a very immigrant friendly...

I'm not taking it personally. I worked closely with the USCG for years, they were a pretty professional bunch of guys for the most part. I can say with certainty, they don't run around boarding...
