Re: What is the oyster marine of the catamarans? It's personal

Ocean Explorer Catamarans maybe?
Architect is German Frers. Built in Finland, really expensive. Seems like a multihull oyster to me.

Re: Selling La Vagabonde?

You’re going to want your Oscar dothingy to be on point. Pretty catastrophic whacking into something on your cruising foiler in the open ocean. I think maybe a shark or a sunfish would be pretty...

Re: Selling La Vagabonde?

With Cornell’s situation it just doesn’t sound right. I’ve a 42 ft sloop 630 watts of solar and a watt and sea hydrogen and I can cross an ocean without my engine (diesel)(in high latitudes). I have...

Re: Agent in Puerto Obladia , Panama

Find the taxi driver who’s checked people in before. That’s what I did. If they’re hanging around the port they probably speak English, helped smooth the way when I did it. I arrived into fort...

That’s it. Well said. A few places to be avoided but you’ll figure it out beforehand. Vive la difference

Re: Volvo D2-55 MDI Units

MDI’s on that generation of Volvo engine were a disaster. I have a d2 75 installed in 2016. I forget how many replacements they threw my way. Eventually one worked. The company that commissioned the...

Re: U.S. to close..

From my observations if countries and or regions take a heavy medicine ( a lockdown) then they largely avoid these peak figures which some countries suffer from. I read somewhere that if the whole...

Re: Lagoon 450s Owners Version

Sounds great. How wrong can you go considering the age of it. If it is fit for purpose then do it. Consider where and when you wish to sail it..... no high latitudes and no big journeys out of...

Re: Route from Queensland (AUS) to Panama

I travelled between 40 and 45 degrees until a thousand miles from Chile and that was similar to what the other poster talked about and the observations that they made, so whilst sailing the latitudes...

Re: Route from Queensland (AUS) to Panama

Well when I read your post and the claims you made for your friend, I thought bs. I congratulate him on his abilities to sail 6300 nms (rhum line)in 30 days aboard his 38 ft steel boat. He averaged...

Well that’s good and fine for your friend. But I don’t care, I was giving my person experience and nothing more

Re: Route from Queensland (AUS) to Panama

I second those observations, really consistent wind and well ordered sea state at between 40 and 43 degrees south. Got up to 65 knots once consistently, and gusting over 70, halfway across and it was...

Sailing without owner

Hello,

I am thinking of getting others to sail my boat from Uruguay to Curacao and don’t know what the legal requirements are.

I presume maybe a document drawn up by a notary might suffice.

Re: In-mast vs in-boom furling

I have just come across this thread and don’t want to read it all, but I will pass on my observations of the leisurefurl in boom. I fitted it to a 89 hallberg rassy 42. I hope I’m not repeating what...

Re: Drogues or sea anchor or neither

If the sky is blue, then it is blue, you may say it’s green and provide me with a load of evidence. If I’m gullible enough I will perhaps believe you that it’s green, luckily for me I’m a sailor and...

You should perhaps consider a career as a politician, answering, whilst steadfastly refusing to answer. You keep throwing this mountain of “research” at the specific questions.

It really annoys...

Phil Berman is the Svengali of the catamaran world.

Don’t bother doing your own research over many years about catamarans, including books, mags and talking to people, just go to him and he will...

Re: Drogues or sea anchor or neither

And thats fine up to 35/40 knots then forget it. 50 knots and above in bad seas and you can’t heave to safely on a normal boat. I tried to heave too in 45/55 knots and bad seas and almost came undone

Re: Watt & Sea Hydrogenerators

Well the watt and sea gives you power when you are sailing (and at night) and the solar gives it when.......

I guess you've got to look at how you are going to operate your boat. Are you sailing...
