Re: Single Handed Great Loop

Just met three men doing the loop singlehanded last month, and they all had positive things to say. They had large, fancy boats and even figured out how to pick up mooring balls on their own! One...

We have a 33ft Seawind 1000 on hold with QYC for a week early December. We are experienced cruisers in the US (27ft Trawler) and Competent Crew RYA Cert three years ago, but first time taking a...

Lines for davits and towing

Just purchased a new 9ft RIB with a 10hp engine and St Croix Davits...now it’s time to select the lines. St Croix sells specific lifting lines 5/16 double braid, but doesn’t specify if it’s nylon or...

Re: EFI vs Carburated 9.9 Tohatsu

Yes, there is a price difference, but only $230. Given how much we spent on the RIB, why not!? The dingy will be used often for the next 6 months, but may sit after we get back. The possible...

EFI vs Carburated 9.9 Tohatsu

Tohatsu just rolled out EFIs. We had purchased the carburated 9.8 to go with our RIB for our upcoming trip to the Bahamas but since we haven't picked it up yet, we now have the option of getting the...

Re: Light hard bottom RIBs under 10 ft

Just wanted to provide an update....finally decided on a Highfield 290 Classic Hypalon with a Tohatsu 9.8. We spent a lot of time researching (more than the amount we spent researching our...

Hi - I've read a lot about the benefits of hypalon over pvc, but not much about pvc...Would we be making a mistake to get one?

Some background - We have narrowed down our search for a dingy with...

Re: Women and engines

BandB...as a former exec at a National CPA and Consulting firm I can totally relate with your hourly rate concept. I too consider what I would bill and cost to have someone else do it. Hence, car...

Re: Women and engines

That's totally unfair! Why do men get to drink all that beer? Can we add a step 5 where the woman goes back to her boat and opens up a can of beer? :thumb: Funny, I never thought about tinkering...

Re: Women and engines

It worked! JB weld to fill the gap worked well....now it's even better than when we first got her! Now it's time to do my nails and have a shot of fireball to celebrate!

Re: Women and engines

I'm actually very lucky to have a very active ownersforum....actually bought a boat that had most of her re-do documented on the forum, so I knew about all her warts and fixes before I even saw her. ...

Nani - very helpful. We have done a lot of dives off of boats and what you outlined makes perfect sense....we just never had to think about all of these details before because we had the dive ops...

Re: Women and engines

I just googled it....a long socket wrench? At 4'10, and under 100 lbs (usually), i have the advantage of small fingers and ability to fit easily in our engine compartment, but definitely could...

Re: Women and engines

Wow! What a great idea! That's exactly what we need. It's definitely not restricting too much but it is causing a leak because the hose doesn't have too much to hang on to. We definitely just...

Women and engines

Ok...don't want this to be controversial so trying hard not to vent...but....how can a woman learn about her boats engine when mechanics always ask for the husband!

We have a 1984 Ford Lehaman...

Re: Light hard bottom RIBs under 10 ft

Re: Light hard bottom RIBs under 10 ft

No, I haven't. Looks pretty cool. However, it has an inflatable bottom. Looks like it is rigid at 10psi, allowing it to plane. But, most posts I've read says never buy inflatable bottoms.....we...
