Re: Let's Talk about Inexperienced Crew Pay

Sounds like a ‘Transback” delivery. There are people who would jump at the chance to have this experience with one of the well-regarded skippers.

If you think you are going to do this, ask around...

Re: Yacht Rock - Is this a real Genre?

This series of short parody videos is said to be the origin of the “Yacht Rock” moniker.

Channel 101 - Yacht Rock (https://www.channel101.com/show/171)

I would include “6 Months in a Leaky...

Having done this a couple of times with a mix of people I knew well and people I hadn't met before getting on the boat, I'd like to offer some advice:

My suggestion for a 1st time bareboat...

Re: Stern anchor

Gotcha. That's a good tip, thanks. It's a pretty protected anchorage, so it wouldn't normally get too rough. Ideally, I should head over there when no one else is around and experiment.

Re: Stern anchor

I have Fortresses bow and stern. At this one particular location, it's common to use a dinghy to drop the stern anchor closer to the beach. Last time I was there, both anchors held well until the...

Re: Stern anchor

What type of anchor do you use for your stern anchor? I'm also in SoCal and need to use both anchors on occasion, but my stern anchor doesn't hold as well as I'd like as it's a fortress, not great...

Re: New Schengen Visa Rules from Feb 2020

Thanks for your reply. It looks like you are correct - it only applies to those who need advance visas. And even with it, the 90/180 rule still applies.

Re: The GGR race, discussion and news

It is also pretty ironic that a Beneteau from the Longue Route came to assist Loic's rescue.

Re: The GGR race, discussion and news

I think this race would actually be more interesting and probably safer if it weren't billed as a non-stop race. Also, I don't think that allowing participants to use technology to get GPS...

Re: Electric transportation when you get there!

I would think it would depend on how difficult it would be to charge them. Would you be able to charge them if not connected to shore power? Would they survive a dinghy ride to shore?
