Re: Best fuel stop between Anquilla to Martinique

I agree with boatman that the fuel dock on the French side is where to fuel up. Euro 1to 1 with dollars there and no issues with fuel quality. No matter which side you choose, SXM is where to fuel up...

Re: Drop-in Replacement for Ford Lehman

If I was you, I would call American Diesel. They are the go to guys for the Lehmans. Bomac Marine are the worst IMO, and I own and just rebuilt my SP135 Lehman. Lehmans are a low RPM bullet proof...

Re: Puerto Rico hurricane season haul out/live aboard

I'd suggest you check out Nanny Cay on Tortola, or the yard in Spanish Town on Virgin Gorda. Both allow liveaboards although VG has holes dug out where the boats are strapped down securely.

Re: Puerto Rico hurricane season haul out/live aboard

This is the bay where Fatty Goodlander lost Carlotta. Not that it's a bad bay, but it is open to the west and is not what I would consider a hurricane hole. Wonderful, friendly place Culebra, and I...

Re: DYI Water Maker build, last stages, Questions.

Ok"Protec" vessels make the side port vessels so that they can be stacked on top of each other for a cleaner installation. However, the end cap ports designs tend to leak after a time, so I would...

Re: What is the Name of the Tool to Remove this Nut?

Get an impact socket sized so you can grind part of the sides away so it fits over the nut and grabs the sides of it. Attach impact driver and remove the nut.

Re: Synthetic Teak installed over existing teak?

I had the same issues with my cockpit teak seats. I also couldn't find anything online about the stuff going over teak. I called the manufacturers directly and didn't find a single one that would...

Re: Ignorant Semanship

Do you really think that anyone that had boat sense would buy a $500K + stink pot?? All you can do is shake your head and move on. Barge pilots, Tourists, 6 pack captains as well as the credit card...

Re: Cape Horn water maker Installation

As long as you have adequate feed water flow and pressure to the Clark pump, there shouldn't a problem.

Re: Grommets

I'll be glad to purchase the grommets for you in hopes I can use your machine. Just picked up my new stack pack last trip and Lindy couldn't finish the grommets. There are only eight of them. I'll be...

Re: $1,500 watermaker

This watermaker is junk. Brass fittings on the HP side, sch40 PVC on the LP side. No flow meters so you're guessing about your flows. No safeties for HP or Lp shut down. I do industrial desalination...

Re: Where do You Live aboard, and Why?

We have made our year round home in the Caribbean living on the hook. Currently in Anguilla with a mooring ball in St, Martin (French side) in the lagoon. We have also lived aboard in St.Thomas,...

Re: Replacement controller for Sea Recovery Aquamatic

I looked.over your electrical schematic and any RO controller would work with your system as long as the main voltage to it was 12volt DC. Just Google RO controllers. There are many different...

Re: Permanent Marking Pen to keep prop clean

I also keep my prop bare unless she's going to be sitting and then I coat the prop in grease. No. Your post does not make sense. You are comparing fruit to chemicals. Last, I learned of the marks a...

Re: Permanent Marking Pen to keep prop clean

Thanks Goneisland. Some people are afraid of trying new things. I'm not one of them and a giggle here and there is like water off a ducks back. It's the internet after all.

Re: Permanent Marking Pen to keep prop clean

He specifically said marks a lot black, but glad you had good luck with the red. Maybe use each color on a different blade. Wouldn't that look weird going around underwater.. haha.

Re: Permanent Marking Pen to keep prop clean

FYI, I'm told that the "Marks a Lot" marker is the only one that works. My buddy mentioned that coated the prop with marker, let it dry and coated it again. He did this four times with heavy coats....

Re: Caribbean Airfares - Best Routes for Sailors

I'd suggest looking at Atlanta to SXM. (St. Maarten) then check Liat and also Winair to St. Vincent. SXM is the Caribbean hub.
