The electric motor of my Autohelm 3000 is lacking torque. I'd like to replace it with a new one. The autopilot is the wheel pilot version (wheel driven by belt).

Anybody out there who knows which...

Re: Engine mounts for Peugeot Indenor DTP 50

Yeah, in the meantime I took some measurements of the engine feet and the old mounts and it seems to me that thats pretty much the same as any other similar Diesel engine and its mounts. Will perhaps...

Re: 1992 Koopmans 38 casco for completion?

I actually just studied this boat yesterday and I found it quite appealing. I don't know the brand but it looks like an Alubat. If it's Alubat quality then it should be good enough for me. Does...

Re: 1992 Koopmans 38 casco for completion?

Yes, but as mentioned before, I'm specifically looking for boat for singlehanded sailing. Well sheltered cockpit, preferably tiller-steered, very simple installations and potentially as low on...

Re: 1992 Koopmans 38 casco for completion?

Alright, thank you for these figures.

Sure, Dutch craftmanship and as simple as it gets.

But if that means EUR 300K plus significant risks of unforeseen circumstances, the idea is pretty much...

Re: 1992 Koopmans 38 casco for completion?

Gaucho, thank you for this honest assessment. I appreciate this a lot.

I am in Switzerland. No suitable boatyard around here. Also, no point in bringing the boat here. That hull is in the...

1992 Koopmans 38 casco for completion?

I have a budget of around EUR 150'000.- with which I am still looking for a singlehandable, robust and simple aluminium cruiser.

So far I have been lacking good DIY skills (I see that I will have...

Chef/cook in the Seychelles for a charter sail

I am planning a two weeks bareboat charter sail in May or June 2019 in the Seychelles and I've been thinking about looking for one or two locals as onboard chefs for an appropriate pay.

Would...

Re: Charter company claims we damage boat

I have chartered with Sunsail and Dream Yacht charter at least a dozen time and many minor items broke during these charters. We always handed over a list with the deficiencies we noticed and except...

Re: FLIR Cameras

That's the point. To be of any use on a long distance sail it would have to automatically scan the whole horizon and warn of anything in the way. Like a radar. That does not seem to be available. At...

That was also my assumption. But on some Raymarine videos on YouTube they show clearly visible, smallish planks of wood and similar. Might have just been after sunset with the wood still warm from...

Thank you so much. That is exactly what it is.

We took the thing apart today and found it contaminated. We cleaned it and it's fine now.
