Re: Recommendation for FL Cruising Guide

In Lauderdale, you can launch your boat and store your truck and trailer at Harourtown Marina. It's got 24 hour security. I have used it when doing trips to Bimini in my powerboat, probably fifteen...

Re: Ft Pierce Inlet - Miami on the outside. Gulf Stream question.

Today's forecast is for 20kts NW. You certainly could stay in the ICW and have a nice sail with flat water, until you get to the multitude of bridges as you near West Palm. You can plenty of heacway...

Re: ICW: What does it really mean to "skip Georgia"

I've headed south every November for the last several years from Folly Beach, SC (just south of Charleston). My plan is always to take the ocean to at least Jacksonville, though staying outside as...

Re: Absentee anchoring/storage on the ICW?

Folly Beach, SC is about eight miles off the icw. Mariner's Cay Marina is a private marina, though most slip owners rent out their slips. Probabably the best rates in the area. You'll want to...

Re: Father/Son Bahamas Cruise=Recap and Thanks

Fore and Aft-I haven't read it, but I need to, I've been recommended that book before. I read "Airbourne" by William F Buckley about once a year, it's about a transatlantic sail with his son and...

Re: Father/Son Bahamas Cruise=Recap and Thanks

Re: Bahama Berry Islands anchorages with 10ft draft

I just got back from a Bahamas cruise with my son and went to the Berrys on the way home, first time ever. I would go to White/Devils/Hoffman; that area is magical, my favorite part of the trip. ...

Re: Charleston Area Anchorages

I wouldn't leave the boat on anchor as noted above. The anchorage on the Ashley in front of City Marina have mooring balls owned by the marina, that might be a better choice.

Re: Abacos to Nassau (then Exumas)

Thanks for all the advice. My initial thoughts were to go to Bimini-Chub-Exumas, then Abacos. But my son really wants to do the Abacos initially, so that's what we'll probably do. If he's not...

Re: Cat Cay to NW Channel?

Answer to #1-yes you can anchor there for the night if you wish. It is completely legal if you do not step foot on land as you say. There's not a ton of enforcement out there anyway. If you really...
