Re: Yanmar Raw Water Pump Questions

Here, there is a Yanmar 3GM30F-YEU. The raw water pump was not working, there was no water coming out with the exhaust. A knowledgeable friend dissembled the pump after repairing the heat...

Re: Tybee Island Fine Me Beach

The whole state of Georgia operates on that level.

Georgia stole the federal Intra Coastal Waterway and Georgia Department of Resources destroyed it, so that there is no more small boat traffic...

I find a jeweller's loupe https://www.ebay.com/itm/251982750510?hash=item3aab57a32e:g:7u8AAOSw7Ytf0W5v to be a useful tool. I use it for reading miserable tiny instructions for equipment,...

How's about Nanny Cay Marina!? https://nannycay.com/ I bought my boat there in 2002 and think highly of the place.

Re: mooring buoys Canada

Doesn't the boat have a licence or documented name on it? What is it? Can't you trace the owner from that?

Re: Yanmar engine models

Here there is a Yanmar 3GM30F-YEU. I run it about every week, when I'm not out cruising. It runs fine. The stock cast steel exhaust elbow slowly plugs up with a hard black deposit that defies...

Re: Construction Materials

With a hull built of those metals you'd have to worry about galvanic corrosion.

Re: Sailing Tactics on the Mayflower

Years ago, I asked a crew member of a tall ship at a tall ships festival if square rigged ships could tack into the wind. He said yes, they could, they just put all their sails tight fore and aft...

Re: Change engine oil annually even if it's pristine?

I'd rather give Yanmar the benefit of the doubt and simply change the oil every year, than rebuild a worn-out engine.

Re: Bird Spikes on Radar Array

Hang up a dead bird, in the rigging. It'll keep birds away for 1/5 of a mile or so.

Re: Change engine oil annually even if it's pristine?

Yanmar says to change the oil every year because oil breaks down over time. Ask a Yanmar dealer or mechanic.

In CF, Boatman61 has posted his experiences with bad oil but I can't find his post.

Re: Musty MUSTO

Try Shout, the laundry stain remover. Its active ingredient is a complex alcohol. It's meant for clothes, so it shouldn't damage the Musto gear.

I've used it to clean up mold on my deck, the...

Re: Finding Yanmar Oil Pan Plug

I vaguely have in mind that Yanmar says to not disturb that plug in the back bottom of the sump, as it'll leak when you replace it, change the oil thru the dipstick opening. Accordingly, before you...

Re: Check out my crack (SS cracks)

That's how 316 stainless steel corrodes--with white spider web cracks which lead to breakage, just like that. Carefully check all the SS parts that were installed at the same time as that one, for...

Re: Need alternative to Pirate flag

I read somewhere that no pirate ever flew a skull and crossbones flag. They flew flags of convenience. For example, when they were chasing a British ship, they'd fly a British flag so they could...
