In our experience: Yes, largely due to the better location of the external antenna. The differential was smaller when the IridiumGO was mounted externally where we mounted the antenna.

It depends on the fabric type of the sock and the stain type. I have had great results on google/youtube asking stain questions when you have fabric type and stain type.

We normally just clean and rinse, but for passage we rinse with fresh water and may use some regular shaving gel as it rinses out clean too.
