Nice and simple. Cheap, plus it's easy to change headsails as required.

I had similiar headway issues with my Tasman 26. I consulted a sail maker- who made a great main and number 2 headsail, which fitted the boat perfectly. The main had a maximised roach for light airs...

I raced with a friend on his Endeavour 26, One year when he lifted his boat for maintenance he noticed the Keel "wobbled" from side to side, but one side more than the other. Further investigation...

I second Anchorage Marine in North Sydney. I too have a 1980's yacht, which I paid $13.5 k for several years ago. They have been hassle free, though i haven't made a claim.
