Re: Surveyor in Singapore

I hope you find your dream boat and that area I'd look in Langkawi. I bought a boat in Florida and now finishing up the mini refit and will head to the Keys soon. I really wish you luck.

Re: Surveyor in Singapore

Ok, I looked up the boat for sale in Singapore and that's the same boat. A lot of old pictures in the add because I remembered a lot of bad rust around the cockpit windows. The boat was bought I...

Re: Surveyor in Singapore

If it's the same steel Bruce Roberts boat I looked at I'd stay away. I contacted the broker a nice British gentleman and asked if it had any major issues because I would be flying in from the...

Re: Cell phone signals inside passage to Alaska

Did this sail in 2012 and I suggest just going... silent. I used my Spot for a location indicator but other then that not much needed. You'll have a lot of local help if needed but enjoy the silence.

Re: Surveyor in Singapore

Wow, I didn't see those two dents on the bow! They either hit something or slammed into the pier in the past. The SS rigging was new in 2007 with Norseman threaded terminals opened, inspected and re-...

Surveyor in Singapore

I'm looking for recommendations on a marine surveyor in Singapore to do an inspection on a 1996 43' steel Bruce Roberts R434 sailboat. Any advice would be greatly helpful. Thank you

Re: Cat ketch built along the lines of the Garry Hoyt 'Freedom 40'

I actually went and looked at the boat last year since I live in the Philippines but there are way too many unknowns about her. You have graphite masts that are 31 years old and cost $25,000 to...

Compression post steel base corrosion

I recently had a survey done on a 82' Dufour 4800 and nothing was mentioned about the compression post base but from the some pictures I took I noticed some corrosion on the steel beam. Anyone...

Nor. Can I ask how you know the masts are ok and do you know anything else about this boat? Thanks!

Re: Cat ketch built along the lines of the Garry Hoyt 'Freedom 40'

Didn't another post mention the masts were sound and the boom broke during the adventure at sea. Those poor sailors adrift at sea trying to get this boat to Phuket for maintenance and new sails.

Re: Cat ketch built along the lines of the Garry Hoyt 'Freedom 40'

I believe but am not sure that he is saying the total investment in the boat after just engine and sails will be $50k but let's not forget electronics, wiring and all the other stuff that will pop...

Re: Cat ketch built along the lines of the Garry Hoyt 'Freedom 40'

Very true on the cost and time spent. If the boat is still for sale later this year I'll go over and look at it and see what she looks like and see if it's dropped in price which would make buying...

Re: Cat ketch built along the lines of the Garry Hoyt 'Freedom 40'

I live in the Philippines and have been looking at this 1988 Rehnert Cat Ketch for about a year and spoken to the broker and the boat just seems overpriced to me. With the boat being located at...

Re: Morgan Out Island 33 vs Bayliner Buccaneer 320

Is that the consensus that the Morgan is better built? But, I heard that not all Buccaneers were built alike, some were lemons and some were very well built? Any William Garden designed Buccaneer...

Morgan Out Island 33 vs Bayliner Buccaneer 320

I'm a big fan of the Morgan 33 Out Island because of its size down below and offshore capabilities that some have written about on this forum. Now, there's a Bayliner Buccaneer 320 for sale in the...
