Re: My boating dreams are destroyed

Just curious...

Do you live on the boat? If you do, what is tying you to Miami Beach? Is your boat able to move a mile every 45 days? If so, then I don't see your issue with this as it is...

Re: 2P4S vs 4S2P, and paralleling question

I made a 24v bank with those cells and did 8s4p for a few reasons.
1. I can monitor every cell individually.
2. I have essentially 4 battery banks for massive redundancy.
3. I ordered 32 cells...

Re: Lagoon 440 bulkhead separation

That all makes sense, but this is an example of a location that was chosen by the manufacturer to NOT be laminated and instead some ?flexible? adhesive was used. It does appear that procedure was...

Re: Lagoon 440 bulkhead separation

As I'm sure others will mention, the 450 issue is not applicable to the 440's at all. But, as is true with any boat, the bulkheads should be inspected and cared for.

For the 440 it seems that...

Re: Make a 12 volt DC charging cable

That's actually going to depend on the device. If you are assuming there is a 12v battery in the device they are describing then that could be the case, however the OP stated that the power brick...

Re: Make a 12 volt DC charging cable

An electric device will use a certain amount of power. Usually, the power consumed fluctuates a bit, say for example a hair dryer on low versus on high. That power consumption is measured and given...

Re: Jack Stand Damage 2006 440

If that is "right down the middle" then there is a factory reason why that happens. The hull on the outside is not a single piece of glass all the way around. So there is a seam of sorts for the...

Re: 24 volt to 12 volt house bank?

100 percent in agreeance with Jedi on his thoughts and design ideas.

I did pretty much exactly that on our catamaran. Took out the two engine start batteries as well as the generator start...

Re: The new Renogy 450W bifacial panels arrived!

Finally got it mounted. Ended up buying a pre-made mount that SeaView makes including the adapter to the in motion dish and added a couple wedges that they offer to line it up how I needed for the...

Re: Hull crack— how does this happen?

Like everyone else I can only speculate on the image, but it looks like a thick shell of paint and barrier coat, maybe fairing compound as well as someone else mentioned. Not the actual fiberglass....

Re: The new Renogy 450W bifacial panels arrived!

Currently sitting on the cockpit roof just in front of the traveler all the way to the starboard edge of the roof. It is about 8 inches below the solar panels which is enough to affect...

Re: The new Renogy 450W bifacial panels arrived!

That's great Jedi! I heard LG was cutting out their production and didn't know Renogy was going to have them available.

We have just a little over a year on the water with four LG 405W Bifacials...

Re: No gelcoat under waterline

I have no experience with or knowledge of Nautix.
Are you in Europe or something? Looks like they are a French company.

I've not done an entire bottom with barrier coat - but several large areas...

Re: No gelcoat under waterline

Not wanting to start a debate about it, but since it has been said that you can't ever put gelcoat over epoxy I wanted to offer that it is not always the case according to other sources and my own...

Re: Anchoring near LIRR station

Sounds like you have already decided, but another +1 for Port Washington.
Lots of room to anchor if you prefer, or the mooring balls are very reasonable and include water taxi service.

It is a...

Re: beached - water ingress

Not sure of the keel build on the 560, but our Lagoon 440 keels are thick (like 14mm) solid fiberglass on the outside, but on the inside of the keel there is a kind of "insert" which is placed down...

Re: Where to order sheaves online?

Don Green in Deltaville, Virginia is an excellent resource. He will custom make what you need but it is best if you can give him accurate dimensions as he likes to make a CAD drawing to be approved...

Re: Looking for captain & crew for Lagoon 440 delivery!!

Not offering to deliver your boat, but by interesting coincidence we are a 2009 Lagoon 440 currently in Grand Case, Saint Martin!

Planning to head to Culebra, PR this week and then spend a few...

Re: Real Probability of Death Passaging the N. Atlantic

Honestly, any fears I have of passage - near or far (my longest in 10K nm sailing has only been 5 days at sea so far) - is not death. It's sailing in conditions so uncomfortable or nasty that my...

Re: Battery bank sizing with Lithium

Also worth noting is that induction cooktops don't draw that power the whole time they are on. They kind of pulse if you will and the wattage varies quite a bit. So I do think that will work. But,...

Re: Thinking of going 24 volt with the new boat

Adding to this that like Jedi I did a 24v windlass motor to run direct from the 24v house bank. However, all of our electric winches are still 12v and there are situations where I need to run more...

Re: My LiFePO4 Installation Plan

I've only found linear charts for the cycle life, regardless of the depth of discharge. In general, I just feel like for ME it is way more worth it to use the batteries as is beneficial to me and...
