North Sardinia / Costa Smeralda marinas, although expensive in summer, have good offer for 10 months berths, from 1.9. to 30.6. Olbia or Portisco, both with on-site or nearby yards.

Re: Sardinia Squad

if you dont mind electricity the cheap option maybe is to leave the boat on buoys in Cannigone. 16m 60€/day, the guy is always there and maybe you can get good price for 10 days.

Re: Handling a 45+ foot boat

Disagree also. Been there, done that! Managing 40' 7t cruiser/racer in rough weather is wet and sporty task. Prepare snicker bars and hot tea in advance.

Re: B&G Hydra 2000 wind direction but no wind speed

My problem still exists. Have been told that b & wind sensor connections on top of the mast could be the problem. Have to climb up and clean/spray connector.

Re: Route suggestions to Croatia via non-EU waters?

Maybe Otranto and then a jump to Montenegro/Zelenika? Probably easier to check out/in and also a lot to see. A week or two and than head NW to Cavtat/Croatia.

Re: Raymarine AIS installation

I think that is more a design and robustnes idea, not to rely on external POS source. AIS transciver has to be self dependent system.

Re: Raymarine AIS installation

Class B AIS transponders must have a dedicated GPS and can't share one with another unit. And they cannot use NMEA-0183 data from another GPS. This is a type approval certification requirement.
