Re: Yanmar engine issues

We detached the hose coming from the secondary filter going into the injector pump and attached a hose going straight into a Jerry can and still nothing. Can we deduct that its an issue ahead ofthe...

Re: Yanmar engine issues

I apologize, I do have a water separator, but it looks clear of any fuel/ water separation.

Re: Yanmar engine issues

When I removed the fuel line from the tank to the primary filter it was empty of fuel, I expected this to be full of diesel. I do not have a fuel water separator, but wouldn't my primary filter have...

Yanmar engine issues

I have an older yanmar 2gm20 with low engine hours that's always run great. Recently we were preparing to move the boat out of the way of a hurricane. We began our 45 mile trip only to have the...

Re: Raw water pump issues on Yanmar 2gm20f

We were having such a good trip from Ocracoke to here. The boat was running beautifully until now. We just want to get back underway. I would love to run aground right now.

Re: Raw water pump issues on Yanmar 2gm20f

It might not look so bad in the pictures but we had a hard time trying to pry those shaft bars back together so the impeller would even fit over them.

Re: Raw water pump issues on Yanmar 2gm20f

It wasn't difficult the fit it in because the impeller. It's because we bent the shaft open trying to open it.

Re: Raw water pump issues on Yanmar 2gm20f

$50 is much better than $300 for a whole new pump. I was wanting to say we had a fixed cam but wasn't 100% sure I was saying the right thing. Here's our shaft and pump housing. I'm hesitant to take...

Re: Raw water pump issues on Yanmar 2gm20f

We have such spotty internet. I will get pictures on tomorrow for sure though. Thank you for the advice so far. All we really wanna know it's if our shaft is repairable, and again I will definitely...

Re: Raw water pump issues on Yanmar 2gm20f

Sailorman Ed, we most likely are that couple! Let me try to get pictures of the shaft, but we had a hell of a time trying to squeeze the shaft back in place to get the impeller on, but we got it on...

Re: Raw water pump issues on Yanmar 2gm20f

Would we see the collapsing of the hoses? Because we don't see anything like that and they all feel very strong.

We've also filed down our plate and the shaft to try to get it back in place

Re: Raw water pump issues on Yanmar 2gm20f

We tested our thermostat and it didn't do much of anything.

Re: Raw water pump issues on Yanmar 2gm20f

We haven't rebuilt anything yet, all we did was clean out sea strainer and then there was no water, only a little at high rpms. We just discovered where the thermostat is, but our pump is pumping...

Re: Raw water pump issues on Yanmar 2gm20f

I think we completely cleared our system of any clogs, hoses and all. We haven't gotten into the elbow because again, the heat exchanger was relatively clean, so I can't imagine the elbow being the...

Re: Raw water pump issues on Yanmar 2gm20f

We use the glycerin that came with the new impeller and we used it good. We honestly didn't think we had a thermostat because it is fresh water-cooled, but really we have no idea.

Re: Raw water pump issues on Yanmar 2gm20f

It's a Yanmar engine, but a Johnson pump. F4b903 but the fact that it's not a Yanmar pump gives me the impression its already been replaced. It is a Johnson impeller too.

Re: Raw water pump issues on Yanmar 2gm20f

We thought it was the gasket on the sea strainer so we replaced it and still nothing. There's water when we rev the engine, but still not sufficient. We would love to rebuild this pump but we are at...

Re: Raw water pump issues on Yanmar 2gm20f

It is most certainly the correct impeller. We did not install the pump backwards or upside down. The belt is in great shape and spinning. It's not possible for the impeller to spin freely because...

Raw water pump issues on Yanmar 2gm20f

We have been at this for a week. We have no water out of the exhaust. We started at the thru hull valve which was open, we've checked every hose, strainer is clear for that is all we did before this...

Re: Buying a donated boat

We motorsailed across the Pamlico to Ocracoke. Nearly 11 hours the motor ran and it was beautiful! We even got rained on a good bit! Only used a quarter tank of fuel. We have huge plans for this...

Re: Buying a donated boat

Yes we did. Funding is low and we had to do our best with what we had. We would really like to haul out again in a year and do it all properly, but currently we are constrained by money and time. I...

Re: Buying a donated boat

We took her out for a sail today, and it was magnificent. We made the right decision, and we are very happy with how this boat is shaping up. I will definitely post updates, and I am sure I will post...
