Re: Post 9/11 GI Bill and Captain (Six Pack) License

Go to the National Maritime Centers site. They have handy checklists, a live chat and a Military to Mariner section that you may find helpful. It shouldn't be too hard to acquire a 6 pack on your own...

Re: Do you use a Daytime Black ball at Anchor?

Re: Captain in a box: 6 ok vs 25/50/100

"Excess is best" I recommended getting the biggest possible license with the greatest scope possible. You never know when you'll need it, but you'll already have it.

Re: move Lobster Pots

My understanding is that the Easternmost pickup buoy in the string has to have the secondary buoy and flag. So you know which end is which when you're passing them. It helps when I'm towing through...

Re: USCG Exam Rules of the Road Trick Questions

I'm not trying to be rude, but that wasn't what I asked.

I was going off the question that it was a crossing situation between 2 PDVs because it was stated in the question that it was a crossing...

Re: USCG Exam Rules of the Road Trick Questions

Okay, I've seen it worded 2 different ways but you're saying the sailboat is under power because it is a crossing situation and not a keep out of the way correct?

Re: Yet another COLREGS situation

I spend more than half my time in pilotage waters but would still prefer abiding by the COLREGS. The catch that seemed to be seen in the previous thread is that most rec sailors don't realize we most...
