Re: STARTING Engine Alignment- shaft centered in sterntube?
Not quite sure what is unique in my situation requiring the silicone bellows. The current one has held up 13 years without problems. I already have purchased the refurb kit with standard bellows.... |

Re: STARTING Engine Alignment- shaft centered in sterntube?
Thanks for the replies. Boat is ashore for a prolonged refit. Alignment will be rechecked after launch. Tried to find the “sweet spot” but could not detect any difference. Of course, we are... |

Re: STARTING Engine Alignment- shaft centered in sterntube?
To close the loop: Engine alignment completed. Shaft centered in tube within 1/16”, flange aligned within .004”. This required considerable change in mount adjustment suggesting that alignment... |

Re: STARTING Engine Alignment- shaft centered in sterntube?
The shaft flange was attached to gearbox flange. I used the shaft inserted into the flange to align the new sleeve/bushing. I did not pay attention at the time where the shaft was in relation to... |

Re: STARTING Engine Alignment- shaft centered in sterntube?
If the fiberglass tube was not manufactured to close tolerances, if the hull was pulled out of the mold "green" and bent the tube during curing, if the hull has changed shape over the last 45 years... |

Re: STARTING Engine Alignment- shaft centered in sterntube?
I am going with the PSS dripless seal. It is off for now, simplifies the alignment, allows better access/visualization. No strut, prop in aperture. |

Re: STARTING Engine Alignment- shaft centered in sterntube?
Thanks for the input. I tried shimming the shaft inside the tube. I didn’t feel any difference if it is centered or off a quarter, but I wasn’t focusing my attention on that specifically. Boat is... |

Re: STARTING Engine Alignment- shaft centered in sterntube?
Thanks for the response. The article does not address position of the shaft within the sterntube. All the references I have seen suggest .001" per inch of flange diameter, a tolerance of .004" in... |

STARTING Engine Alignment- shaft centered in sterntube?
Redoing my drive train a bit. Cutlass bearing seized to prop shaft and wallowed out the aftermost portion of the sterntube. I am not quite sure why but the bearing had been very slightly loose in... |

Re: Adding pockets to a dodger or sprayhood
Little stuff like headlamp, sunscreen, maybe handheld VHF, etc. If there is storage space available, stuff will appear that will go in it. |

Adding pockets to a dodger or sprayhood
Thinking of adding some small pockets to the inside "wings" of my dodger, I am looking for ideas. Anyone done this? Pitfalls to be avoided? Pics of what you did would be most helpful. |

Re: Repowering- Horsepower or Torque more important
Thanks, already have that book and have read it cover to cover. It is great. Prop size is already maximum, blade area fixed by what available from MaxProp (3 blade). Shaft size is OK. |

Re: What made Pilot Cutter so fast? Just rumors?
