Re: Universal M25 XPB with Yanmar Raw Water Pump?

Ryan, I had the same, broken fork issue on the M25XPB, in my 1968 Pearson 35.
I installed a crankshaft driven Jabsco pump on the front of the existing sheave and plated off the hole where the...

M25XPB, water and oil mixed.

The 2000, Westerbeke , m25xp in my 1968 P35
has developed a catastrophic oil-water mingling.
It seemed to happen over a 45 min period, while
fast idling for battery charge. The high temp alarm ...

Raymarine st4000+, failure.

Re: Bimini top out of aluminum ?????

I had fabricated a aluminum top for my 25' Topaz. I painted it with a paint with an R value. Can't remember the name. Not sure this info applies to a sailing boat but it is a lovely top.

Re: Nav lights/day shapes when using drogue or sea anchor

I do a number of overnight, solo passages here in Fiji and I of course show the usual nav lights but for the times of doubt, I have mounted and show a flashing yellow light.
This is not uncommon...

Re: "Composting" toilet questions

You're post begs the question, why is a boat cruising using a holding tank?

Re: Whats a good boat to sail the Caribbean

I sail a 1968 Pearson 35 in the Fijian archipelago and can attest to its strength and the desireabiliy of the swing keel. I paid $20k for a duty paid boat and may have invested 10k and untold labor....

Raw water entering back cylinder.

Raw water has been entering the back cylinder on my year 2000, m25xp, Westerbeke engine, in my 1968, P35.
This was discovered during an out of boat rebuild and it's being said that this is because...

These are seriously capable mariners in a well found boat.
When they pulled the pin on the EPIRB, it was time.
They are well known and respected in Fiji.
Wishing them the very best.

Re: Old Boats Dangerous?

All boats are dangerous.
A Vega INHO is a great boat.
I sailed my 1969, Vega, " Flika", out of NOLA, for many happy years.

Re: Ingrid....

Glossing over a planked hull is a death sentence.
Rainwater is trapped inside and destroys the wood.
As roverhi said. Run away.

To the best of my knowledge, polypropylene floats, doesn't stretch and degrades
quickly from sunlight.,,it's also strong and inexpensive.

Re: Not all panels equal

All said, the Chinese panel I bought and installed is producing great power.
As a friend said, if I replace this every 3 yrs, I'm still money ahead.
Nikki S, IMHO, Siemens seem to be the best.

It was a competitive buy at $370fd. Upon...
