Re: Boat Ownership - Spain

@cargar12. (https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/members/cargar12-256126.html)

I purchased a US registered boat in Spain. I re-flagged it as Canadian and have been managing the 18 month VAT...

Did San Fran to Vancouver (Canada) 1st week of July.

Did not want to try any bar crossings so carefully watched the weather window so we could safely make it (a) to Crescent City (no bar...

Re: South Europe, Turkey - best ratio price marina and nice bays

I have also heard of and experienced the increased prices in Turkey and Croatia. The marina quote we got from Marmaris over doubled in 2-3 years.

We have had good luck with Preveza in Greece....

Re: Velvet Drive Identification

My Cheoy Lee has CR2 transmissions. Different model boat, but may be a clue.

You also could call Hale Marine. I found them to be very helpful and knowledgable when trying to work out the same...

Re: Mantas M1 or Sarca Excel

Another vote for the M1.

Had an M1 on a 50' pilothouse trawler, anchoring in deep water up north (up to 90') and so often on shorter 3:1 scope. Never had a problem.

So happy I got a 125# M1...

Re: Seattle to LA in March

Might be a better / alternate trip for your 1st adventure. That is a potentially meaty undertaking.

As others will confirm, it will all be about weather windows, and they are harder to find at...

Re: Headsets for two-way communication?

Another vote for Sena SPH-10.
We tried radios and a PTT was a pain as often you need two hands to do your job. VOX also was not good particularly when windy/noisy, and decreasing sensitivity to deal...

Re: Greek Bareboat advice

A few thoughts. As per yeloya it can be cold, and that translates to cold water. You will want your wetsuits. :) The other thing is there is not a lot to see underwater compared to the Caribbean. You...

Re: What's your anchoring etiquette

It is all relative.
Cruising the Mediterranean summer showed us a lot about how close boats anchor together with people thinking it is just fine.

It is absolutely bonkers in the crowded...

Re: Ideas for Eastern Med with 2 kids?

As per @DockHead.That is a lot of ground to cover! You (and the kids!) might enjoy slowing down and spending more time exploring and less time transiting. There is so much to see.

We have...

Legalities of 'salvaging' boats abandoned at sea?

A number of recent threads here and elsewhere on boats being abandoned by their skippers but seemingly remaining seaworthy - drifting into land, able to be repaired at sea, etc.

I remember someone...

Re: Canadian License vs Registration/Bahamas

I acknowledge it is not answering your question, but as I understand legally it has to be registered. I know that the US turns a blind eye to it here in the PNW near the border where there are so...

Thanks, and I get what you mean, but I have not been able to find any of a similar size from the typical vendors, hence trying to track them down!

I am interested in learning what can cause a battery to bubble hydrogen when it is not being charged and there is no draw on it. It is happening with 2 different batteries.

Now I accept the...

My drive sometimes turns when in neutral - but with little or no force. You can stop it easily, and it is a bit slower than when in gear.

If not as simple as that, then I have had a good...
