Re: compac 16 water in keel
Thanks TurninTurtle. I was afraid that might be the case. Looks like a good deal with a serious hitch. |

compac 16 water in keel
I'm looking at a little Compac 16 to keep at my cabin in Maine to play with on the coast. There is water in the keel, fiberglass on cabin sole is delaminated and wet. It's a tiny boat, lead ballast.... |

Re: Prepping Deck for 2 Part Epoxy
Okey dokey. Thanks again. I'm about 10 days away from lift off. As I'm painting the deck by rolling I don't know how I can avoid applying the second coat w/o being on the deck myself. I suppose it's... |

Re: prepping deck for 2 part epoxy
That was great information and very helpful. Thanks. After I put the first coat of Primekote on, I'm asking, can I walk on it that soon for the second coat (no sanding after first coat)? Once it... |

Re: prepping deck for 2 part epoxy
Thanks to all for your hard-earned know-how. I'm digging in to the primekote next week. I'll advise as to how things are going. |

Re: prepping deck for 2 part epoxy
Thanks for that. The choice of brush sounds tricky, the tipping sounds spooky. What do you mean when you say rolled it on with a "wet" roller? You'd think in a country that put a man on the moon in... |

Re: prepping deck for 2 part epoxy
Thanks for the help, Shipshape and Moosemiester. Valuable stuff to know. The tipping has been concerning me. Do you recall how much thinner you used w the Perfection? I know it can vary quite a bit,... |

Re: prepping deck for 2 part epoxy
Well that was a good overall synopsis. I'm set to put the primekote on this week if the rain holds. I've tented the boat deck at my dock, got all the goodies I need to do the job. I'll see how my... |

Re: prepping deck for 2 part epoxy
I'll admit, the paint choice can be a little confusing. After a great deal of prep, within reason "money is no object." It's a not a big boat, so only a few quarts are needed. Like in painting... |

Prepping Deck for 2 Part Epoxy
OK, I need some wisdom here. The deck of my Seaward is properly sanded, almost all the deck hardware is removed, what's left is taped, and the Primekote 2 part primer is eagerly waiting to be mixed.... |

Re: swing keel stuck in trunk
Thanks to all who responded to my request re: lowering a stuck swing keel in a Morgan 25. I've got some work to do, but the combination of generously contributed wisdom has that obstinate keel... |

swing keel stuck in trunk
I'm working on pulling a very shy swing keel down from the trunk (for function, not for overall removal) where it has been happily living for probably 7 or 8 years. The boat is a sweet little 1968... |

Re: Sovereign 24' Sailboat
Check sailboatdata.com for the Sovereign's displacement. I imagine it's about 3500 pounds or north of that. If your van has an eight cylinder I'm thinking you'd be OK, but check with manufacturer. I... |

Re: Replacing standing rigging. Turnbuckles included?
I was thinking about using West Marine for my standing rigging. Were you happy with the price? (I've a Seaward 22) Do I gather correctly that you are saying "make sure they know not to replace the... |

Re: Sovereign 24' Sailboat
Can you tell me if the Seaward 22 has a balsa core deck? I'm looking at a pretty nice one (1988) and wondered what issues they may have. Thanks. |

Re: Sovereign 24' Sailboat
Do you know the actual draft for sure on the Sov. 24?? I'm close to bying a 1990 Sovereign 24, but need no more than a 2 foot 4 inch draft max. Others say the draft is 2 foot 7 inches! Any info you... |

Re: Sovereign 24' Sailboat
Hi, new member here. I'd love to know the actual draft of a 24 foot Sovereign I'm looking at (it's in the water) with a wooden bowsprit. The brochure says 2.33 feet (2 feet 4 inches), almost everyone... |
