Re: Up The Mast

The Grigri is for the repel. Most ascenders are great at going up, but a PITA to go down with. I use about the same setup... I use a harness and a set of Petzl climbing ascenders, with a Grigri just...

Re: Heavy Weather Cat Sailing

...I've always felt that sailing a beach cat gives you great intuition about what a bigger wants to do, before it does it. Besides, my Hobie 17 is still THE MOST fun I've ever had on the water! ...

Re: Low cost Cats: Where is the Sweet Spot for a Small Singlehander?

I singlehand my Gemini and love it! That being said, I've been sailing my whole life... If you really want to learn to sail, dinghys are the way to go. (Any local sailing club should be able to...

Re: Potomac River Marina's and such? any ideas?

Make SURE that you consider ANY other options before even consider living at Tantallon! (Anchoring at Belle Haven wouldn't be too bad) I was there for a bit, and couldn't get out fast enough ;( I...

Re: MOB Pole

Re: Solbian Solar Panels

I just recently finished installing my six 50 watt solbian panels :) I am super happy so far! I wasn't willing to give up my "garage" above the davits, and had limited options otherwise. They have...

Re: Best 6hp outboard?

Well yes, short vs long shaft is going to be a compromise no matter what... But I'm thinking that I'm willing to deal with the extra drag on the dink (with long shaft) in order to be able to utilize...
