Re: Can Dyneema Chafe through Stainless Steel? Yes!
We have heard reports here in French Polynesia that accelerated wear and corrosion can happen especially in the Marquesas. The bottom is made up of finely ground volcanic rock and soil. More than one... |

Re: How often you dive to see your anchor after anchoring?
We do check our Mantus when possible. Here in French Polynesia we have been motoring forward after setting the anchor and can usually see it from the bow. We were anchored in Martinique when a buddy... |

Re: exceeding inflatable outboard hp rating
So true and then you end up in Panama and poof tickets get written for no pfd's. The US influence is still hanging around generating revenue for the government. Thankfully the times we forgot to wear... |

Re: Why not corded tool for electric winch alternative?
We have the Milwaukee corded version that we use for that purpose. 4 years no problem. Our catamaran also uses a boom derick to raise the dinghy instead of davits. We often use it to quickly raise... |

Re: Common Rail Experience?
As the owner of an automotive repair shop where we specialized in diesel repair I wouldn't trade our old Yanmars for new CR versions. We had all the latest testing equipment and I can tell you the... |

Re: AGM Battery Failure - Two Sets in Two Years
Considering the repeat failure you've experienced I would recommend doing a capacity test on the new batteries before installing them. This will tell you if they are healthy and give you a baseline... |

Re: Magnum 2812 issues
I hope you have better luck with Magnum than I did. After the third failure now out of warranty I tossed it in the dumpster. |

Re: Is a 40 cat enough to sail oceans?
Sorry for the post after consuming rum! The main point was the mono owners who get on here to bash catamarans are annoying. It gets old seeing this on so many threads. |

Re: Is a 40 cat enough to sail oceans?
I guess mono boys are seriously intimidated by catamarans. Why else would they get all worked up and post their dribble on a catamaran page? If you are a powerboat girl or mono girl just move along.... |

Re: Florida to California
Cartagena was amazing as was the Panama canal transit. San Blas Islands were beautiful but the Bahamas were even better in my opinion. |

Re: Help Us Plan Our Eastern Caribbean Trip
Wine and food in Marin Martinique. Rum in St Thomas or the D.R. and if I remember right fuel was cheapest in Puerto Rico. Don't buy any French rhum! |

Re: Help Us Plan Our Eastern Caribbean Trip
We did that run last season and it's tough but worth it. Study the book to understand the strategy of getting east especially past the D.R. and Puerto Rico. Learn to recognize a weather window and... |

Re: Where to Liveaboard South East US? Lagoon 450
If you don't mind being a little further north check out Bay St Louis Marina. Probably $300.00 a month for your boat. |

Re: Easiest location to ease into the cruising lifestyle
Bahamas then ease up the east coast for hurricane season. Or you can go for the gusto and beat all the way down to Grenada like we did. |

Re: GRENADA TO CURACAO (ABCs)
We are in Bonaire now and the run from Martinique was nice! I would head up to Marin Martinique and provision then leave from there. If you can't do this passage sailing is not for you! We are on SV... |

Re: Water Proofing a Miwaukee Right Angle Drill as a electric winch handel
We bought the 110v Milwaukee right angle to go up the mast and lift the dinghy. Plenty power and no issues. |
