Re: Sailrite Ultrafeed LSZ-1 loaded with extras

Absolutely correct!

Remove the machine and pack it in it's own box. Send the case separately.

I bought one years ago from this forum and it was packaged for shipping at a UPS Store. By the...

Re: Isotherm Mod 2013 With Danfoss BD50 Compressor (NEW IN BOX)

It's not a "must have" item for me, but I can do $500 for a "would like to have" item.
Your half way there now!

Re: MANTUS MARINE GIVEAWAY! - ends Oct. 11, 2022

I have recently purchased a new M2 anchor for my boat.

I would sure look smart dropping that hook with my Mantus headlamp on while attaching my new Mantus bridle. The next morning I would fill my...

Re: good source for ss backing plates?

Why tapper the edge of G10?
Wouldn't a nice thickened epoxy filet do the same thing? You are bonding the backing plate with it anyway. Squeeze out the excess, smooth it around the edge. Done!

Add...

Re: Fastening into epoxy plugs, having difficulty.

I feel your pain. My tracks have 1/4" x 9" long machine screws with nuts on the inside. 30 per side and every one of them needed replacement.
Check Boltdepot.com, they probably have what you need.

Re: Wood spreader question.

This is the next project.

There was only a small split showing originally. this is what it looked like after scraping away the rot that could not be seen. I have cut this side of the mast off at...

Re: Wood spreader question.

Interesting. Are you suggesting cutting vertical or horizontal strips in relation to the the way the spreader is installed?

How is this better than solid wood?

Re: Wood spreader question.

The entire spreader and especially the tips and end grain have been sealed with epoxy. I actually put epoxy in the spreader tip and then pushed the spreader in. I let it set up, knocked off the tip...

Re: Wood spreader question.

Thank you for your input.
While I love the idea of making wood veneer spreaders it is not in cards for me right now. I may pattern all my spreaders and keep this idea as a project for another day...

Wood spreader question.

I hope there are some riggers here with wood mast and spreader experience.

I am getting ready to fabricate some new spreaders for the masts on my Hudson Force 50 Ketch. I have purchased two long...

How does this shaft log get removed?

I am working on my 1982 Hudson Force 50. It has been out of the water for 5 years or so now and I'm getting close to splashing. Previously when it was floating, I noticed there was a small bit of...

Re: I could use some hull painting tips and tricks

I think you have a good idea.

I have a zipper door at the fan end of the enclosure that I can open to some extent to regulate the air flow from the opposite of the enclosure and from under the...

Re: I could use some hull painting tips and tricks

When I primed it I started at the bow and just continued all the way around the boat, transom included. Maybe I am over thinking the overspray issue on the hull sides. Maybe it won't be an issue at...

Re: I could use some hull painting tips and tricks

Awlgrip cannot be wet sanded. The two painter idea was suggested by Awlgrip tech also.
My compressor will not keep up with two painters but I may have a remedy for that if this is the answer.

Re: I could use some hull painting tips and tricks

Feathering the the edge is where the problem comes in. It would be similar to making a repair I am told and Awlgrip (this is not Awlcraft) does not like to do that.

Re: I could use some hull painting tips and tricks

This is what the transom will look like when the teak accents and name boards are back on.

The problem is still with the area above the transom. There is no place to stop painting and move back...

I could use some hull painting tips and tricks

After years of work on Hudson Force 50 I am ready to spray the hull and deck with Awlgrip. This is a 50 foot monohull with a "wine glass" transom and is in an enclosure with a ventilation fan at the...

Did I understand that all those blocks and tackle in all of those pictures would go for $250?

Re: Wooden mast repair and paint recommendations

In your picture it appears as if your glue joints are coming apart. Saturating with West Epoxy is not going to fix this. Likely there is rot inside at this point.
I have Wood masts and my mizzen...
