Did he say why? I replaced my mono’s standing rigging year before last using halyards for stability. |

Weed
I am not for prohibition. Of any sort. But I do preach the benefits of a clear hear. One of my sons called me in a panic while I was touring the Smokey’s. He had been asked to check the water in a... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
In my experience, the old ActiveCaptain was a great resource. I can not set up Garmin’s version on my tablet due to bandwidth limitations and see that as a major loss of a good tool. |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
Not sure if your comments are tongue in cheek but criticism of the young is as old as the written word. I well remember some of the bullets I dodged along the to being an old codger. All by luck. ... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
Other cultures, other stations in life, other ways of thinking, many people can’t imagine walking different roads. Don’t remember stories from the generations before. The new normal ain’t new. Nor is... |

Missing the life
Sitting on my boat tonight. If Amanda doesn’t go in labor tomorrow, the doc is going to induce my grand daughter into the world. I sweat childbirths more than hurricanes. I haven’t made a... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
I sailed out of that channel a few years ago and was warned of shoaling then with the recommendation to follow the charter boats. As for faux pas, the US navy has pulled a few lately and those... |

Re: Lost Their Boat Two Days into their Adventure?
Look at the chart for the entrance. 5’x150’ with 3’ just north of the channel. This is a channel the the locals can use in the day by sharing info. The breaking waves indicate shoals. |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
Most folks wouldn’t need dive gear in 4’ of water. Helped a fella do a bucket drill on his Columbia 29 after a newbie plumbing fiasco at the slip. Boat was almost at the gunnels when he shut the... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
From what I read, they ran hard aground, waves caused the boat to fill and eventually capsize. I saw nothing about a lost keel. Looking at the charts, it’s a very shallow and narrow channel. It... |

Re: Irma and the local boat market
Hurricane season inspires a lot of boat listings. Some boats storm damaged. Some owners awakened to the power of the sea. A young man I know just listed his < 6 month old purchase in Houston. I'm... |

Re: Do most boaters not KNOW?

Re: Generac IQ2000 pull rope
Same with the Generac. I bought high dollar pull cord. It is small but looks as tough as my halyards. |

Re: Generac IQ2000 pull rope
