Suijin, I'm just speaking from experience... we take bottom paint off of boat bottoms... sometime just the anti-foul leaving the barrier coat intact and other times we take both the barrier coat and...

nshawdvm, if you found a few superficial blisters I wouldn't be that concerned, especially if the marine surveyor didn't red flag them... One question is how old is the boat and who's the manufacture...

It's a process that uses air, water and olivine or recycled glass at low pressure 50 psi to remove bottom paint without producing dust.

We do a lot of boat bottom blasting using the Farrow System as well as Soda blasting and we service from New York City down to the northern Chesapeake bay... and yes you do have to containment ground...

We soda blast and Farrow System blast a lot of boats and we work with some of the best marinas between New York City and Baltimore MD.

minaret, I warranty bottom paint jobs for one year. If anything goes wrong with it during that first year I'll fix it at haul out time for no charge to the customer... which is more than anyone else...

I'm sorry, but 90% of the blisters we see are small micro blisters 1/4" to 1/2" in size and are just below the gelcoats surface.

Cheap paints are just that... cheap paint.

If you plan on leaving your boat in the water for extended periods of time (like 1 to 2 years) then the bottom should be protected with a good epoxy...

If you have to remove paint you might want to consider wet abrasive media blasting, (Farrow System) or (GeoBlaster) to take it off.

The wet abrasive blasting process is much gentler than soda...
