Re: Trailering a 17' to East Lake Erie

I just sailed on the Siren 17 the two Bass Islands, Isle St George and up north a mile into Canada and back through Kelleys Island. I wish I could attach a few pics but can't find a way to do it. ...

Re: Trailering a 17' to East Lake Erie

I agree. Our tiny 17' Siren sailed 4 out of them this summer including Superior! Coming from 40 footer cruisers, it's a total different experience and need some adjustment but it has been amazing...

Trailering a 17' to East Lake Erie

We are trailer sailors and are taking our Siren 17 to East Lake Erie for 5 to 6 days. Thinking about sailing around Put-In-Bay and Kelleys island. We could also push it to Isle St George or Middle...

Re: Lights Schematics for Sailboat Under 20'

I wanted to narrow my post down to the navigation lights wiring. But yes, I do have all of these extras planned on the electrical panel and a few more...

Thanks for the suggestions though.

Re: Lights Schematics for Sailboat Under 20'

The boat already has bow and stern light but I'll replace those wih LEDs. And I will add a mast light. It's a 1986 Siren 17.

Re: Lights Schematics for Sailboat Under 20'

Not familiar with rotary switches... How would the wiring schematics look like? Thanks.

Re: Lights Schematics for Sailboat Under 20'

Ha, OK. Problem is that the distribution panel with breakers from Blue Sea Systems I really like only has single pole switches so, I may go the diodes route. Do diodes draw any power or generate...

Re: Lights Schematics for Sailboat Under 20'

So your current configuration doesn't provide a "steaming" lights mode, just anchor and sailing. What do you mean by "red over green"?

Re: Lights Schematics for Sailboat Under 20'

Thanks Kelkara! Makes sense. Any way you can post a sketch of the DPST switches diagram? I am not sure I understand how this would be wired.

Re: Lights Schematics for Sailboat Under 20'

Ha, good catch! I am going to share the boat with other people so, I am trying to make this as idiot proof as possible. And it will be all soldered so, not worries about a bad connection and I...

Re: Pocket Cruisers, Parks Boat Ramps and Overnight Stays

I think that is quite more boat than we want to tow (we are just planning one or two nights out on the water) but it looks like you have it together. Thanks.

Re: Pocket Cruisers, Parks Boat Ramps and Overnight Stays

Indeed, the MacGregor 26 seems to be a bit of a handful for this type of trip. We are looking at buying something quite lighter. The Flow 19 is just over 1,000lbs with 0.3ft draft with her swigkeel...

Pocket Cruisers, Parks Boat Ramps and Overnight Stays

We are thinking of buying a trailable 19’ pocket sport cruiser to do short 1 or 2-night cruises on the US coastal shores and lakes. The boat is super lightweight, around 1,034lbs including her fully...

Re: Sailboats that can be trailered easily.

I think the key for the one looking for a boat that can be trailered easily is to look at something below 20’ with a fully retractable keel for easy launch and minimal comfort and water ballasts to...

Re: Lake Tahoe?

Thanks. I think a 20-25 footer with a lifting keel may be the ticket.
