James, as it has been like that for a long time I guess it should be allright, but as the pin size should be 15mm but is only 12mm I just thought the movement may cause, wear and stress on fitting

Thanks Atoll I think your right, I doubt they have ever been used, the Chieftains were built for the charter industry, not for racing, must just come standard with the mast.
