Hardworking Irishman seeks boat

Hi everybody,
My name's Phil, I'm 25 and I hail from Dublin Ireland. I'm desperately seeking to leave this recession behind for a while, and what better way to do so than setting sail??

Alas I have no sailing experience but I'm a VERY hard worker, a quick learner, very fit and also very easy to get along with - a generally easygoing kind of guy. I have no real preference when it comes to journey type (though the longer the better I say) or route/destination. In a nutshell I'm looking for a bit of an adventure and am prepared to work my butt off along the way.

I live in Dublin but am willing and able to travel anywhere in Europe (God bless Ryanair!). If you'd like to ask me any questions or chat further please feel free to send a PM my way, or reply below.

Thank for reading!

Phil

Here in the states we usually suggest that you try crewing on a yacht during races to get some experience and perhaps trying to find berths with friends you make there. These actions would make you more attractive, and give you some idea as to what you are getting yourself in for.

Thanks for the tip, tbodine88! I'll look into the race scene and see what I come up with!

Welcome aboard, Phil! Study a bit about the fundamentals of sailing and seamanship. There are a couple of low cost sailing books published by ASA, and sold on Amazon.com, that you can use to build your background. Sailors will afford you a chance on sailing, if you can show them that you are serious at what you can do and have been doing. Good luck! Mauritz
