From South America to Africa.
Hi guys,
I am looking for an opportunity to cross the Atlantic from Brazil to West Africa next year (the earlier the better) to work as a volunteer. Prices of regular transport are not for me. The problem is that I can’t work as a crew member because I walk with a crutch. Just to help cooking. My navigation experience is only traveling on the Amazon River (two days and two nights) and from Tumaco to Buenaventura (one day and two nights) on a small cargo boat. Any options from Brazil, Colombia or Venezuela to Africa will be welcome. Regards, Nick. |
Re: From South America to Africa.
better book a flight,or look for a cargo ship, that route is not one a yacht would take, being directly into the prevailing winds and currents.

Re: From South America to Africa.
You mean, no routes from SA to Africa at all?

Re: From South America to Africa.
yachts leaving from ne brazil or further west generally head for the azores before turning towards the medditereanean, north africa.
a very few yachts leave from rio via tristan de chuna heading for cape town around dec. yachts generally make use of the prevailing winds for long distance passages. |
Re: From South America to Africa.
