Re: HELP!!! Trimaran + Family of Five on the Rocks - Baja

I Copied this from to-days BajaNomad forum.

We had a trip planned to the Punta Blanca area last week so we loaded up extra food/water, not knowing if William and Laya were still stranded down the coast at Punta Cono. After spending some time with Brooks Smith et al at a never to be disclosed location (hah!) we headed south along the steep coast road instead of the inland silt beds and found that they are indeed still marooned there at Cono---on the northwest part of the bay---luckily the safest place to be. We gave them what we could (and still be able to get back home). Bruce and Gay (from Bay of LA?) had come out and put the boat up on a trailer so the damage could be worked on. However they did not have any fiberglass, and had returned home to try to find supplies. The fishermen and Bill (Larry's friend) at El Marron know about the situation and are bringing some supplies occasionally. There was some talk that William's brother was trying to bring down repair material too.
Despite everyone's help so far they will soon be low on supplies again---we got them about a week's worth of food/water----more supplies would be greatly appreciated if anyone is in the area. Bill is doing what he can but just has so much to give.
William did say he has a Garmin GPS and had loaded it up with navigation charts but the Garmin won't recognize the charts since they're not from Garmin. He has a CD of charts too though and says he will try to merge the two. Again, any help with charts would be greatly appreciated, of course with the hope that they will set sail again.
William and Laya are very nice people...there was some talk that they should abandon the boat and get the kids back to LA....but the but is their home, literally, and I think they'd like to see if they can fix it.
Will post more if I left something out---brain is still re-engaging into the rat-race.

Thanks Nemo...I tried searching and came up a blank so I thought I'd ask.

Is there anyone on CF that is likely to be going there anytime soon?

Isn't there a big storm heading in their direction right now? wonder how they will fare?

Some more updates suggesting they might want to stay on the beach
