The Norwegian lifeboat association ("Redningsselskapet") has released some of their pictures of stranded boats in an attempt to reduce accidents. Many are alcohol related and chart-plotter navigation errors.

I do like this years new semi-submersable designs. They seem to e getting away from that tired old submarine shape. Bout time.
I don't like the alternative parking ideas though. Seems that they are lacking in easy access to and from boat. All those rocks that you have to clamber over is not going to be easy for older and less sure footed people.

Ouch!!!!!!!!!

ouch! scenes like that are common sights! Interesting note: all but one were motorboats! just a funny obvservation. Sailors run aground, it happens, but we usually know how to get off the sandbar.
those pics shows why taking a boating class would have probably been a good idea for those captains!

I noted the same thing - wonder if there is a correlation between alcohol and mobos.

Noticed that as well ...it looked as though the sailboat had dragged her anchor, or broken loose from a dock, since the sail was furled and the fenders were hanging overside.

I think we all noticed. I found myself wondering if the tide came in while at anchor.

Why am I getting an error message telling me my message is to short that it has to be at least 10 charactors long when I have ten words??

By the way, a picture maybe worth a thousand words, but it takes up a heck of a lot more hard drive space. ;-) :-)

They don't "bolt" containers down. In the event that the a container does topple, ti is better for one or two to go than to lose the entire stack or even worse, take the ship over should a large load go.
