Since you quoted me I assume you wonder why I would consider XP. XP is still a good operating system as shown, by the number of people who still use it and still buy it. Faster than Vista or 7 in some tests. That part doesn't really mater to me.

I'm going to use a single core processor for the reasons I've stated. I'm going to do word processing, SeaClear and/or Open CPN, a photo editing program that is old and that I love and some Internet. Non of these demand much of a processor or an operating system. It does seem that 7 has an edge over XP as far as Internet security.

I kind of like old reliable things, the reason I looked for a '96 to '99 Chevy with the old reliable 350 in it to tow our boat. For the processor I'm using and the limited programs I'm using XP would work fine and I've never contacted Microsoft for support and probably won't in the future.

Now saying that I'm keeping an open mind on what I'll put on the computer and it still might be 7, but it for sure won't be Vista.

I'm glad you are happy with 7 and I'm sure not trying to talk you out of it.
