Special Size Cutlass Bearing
oke I thought I had it all figured out and planned to make it work.
Removed the propellers, removed this section where the cutlass bearing sits in. Than removed the stern tube and took the last part out where the cutlass bearing sits infront of the stuffing box.
Bought 4 new 1 3/4 ID and 2 5/8 cutlass bearings. Now it seems that the inside bearings have a different size. They are 1 3/4 by 2.5 inch. The suppliers here on the island told me that this size is a not existing one. can any one tell me if this is available on the market.

thanks Ton

Are you sure on there list I find the 2 3/8 and the 2 5/8 but not the 2.5

Sorry--you are correct.
Interestingly enough, I have this same problem with my boat. I have to buy a 2" outer size, and have it machined to a metric dimension to fit my outer, shaft log size. :(

Or get a smaller one and have a sleeve made to size it up. that way you only have to have the sleeve made once. :thumb:

You have two choices, machine a 2-5/8" down or have your strut bored to 2-5/8' so you'll never have to deal with this again.

i think i know what to do by now and will take the bigger size and have it machined down. to bore the strut is not an option because of the ring thats inside to devide the cooling water. thanks for your input all
