Greetings & Intro from the 'Good Lake'
Hello!
After enjoying this forum for quite some time, and learning a lot, I came out of lurk-dom to post on Dollars & Cents a few weeks ago. My husband and I currently have a 27' Hunter in Lake Saint Clair, MI (it isn't a Great Lake, but it's a Good Lake). This is our third boat, but our first in about 18 years. Our "kids" are 20 & 21, so that probably helps explain the gap. Our other boats were in San Diego and the gulf coast of FL. We bought the boat in Ohio, so our first adventure was a sail across Lake Erie and up the Detroit River to our new marina. The 4 of us made 24.5 hour transit last weekend. It was our first overnight sail and it went really, really well despite being a bit chilly and making very, very slow progress against the river current. Our long term plans are to take at least 2 years to live aboard cruise the Caribbean on a 40' or so. Our initial plan is to leave 7 years from now, but it could be 4 years. If we enjoy the lifestyle we'll stay onboard and head across the Atlantic or through the Canal. Who knows?? I have a lot to learn, and appreciate everyone here. I hope to eventually be able to contribute someday! Fair winds, M. |

Thanks for the welcome!
Pegu Club - I'm enjoying your blog. Thanks so much for the detailed budget information. That is the biggest unknown for me and I appreciate all of the info I can get from various cruisers! |
