Hi - Newbie in Sydney Australia
Hello everyone, I'm new to CF and just started sailing, my wife and I want to do more to gain experience before purchasing our own and taking off for a few adventures.
I have completed crew and coastal skipper courses and have done a couple of bare boat charters but really want to gain more experience. Our plan is to purchase a 35-40ft single hull in a couple of years and take off for a year. Happy for any advise I can gain from being on this forum.....cheers and happy safe sailing to you all. |

G'Day Osprey and welcome aboard CF.
One suggestion: fill out your profile in as much detail as you feel comfy with. The more we know about you the better our advice, when offered, will be for you. Meanwhile, enjoy the learning process and watch out for the ferries! Jim |

Hi Osprey,
Welcome to CF and I hope that you pick up plenty of helpful tips in your quest. I've always enjoyed Sydney harbour, hopefully the planes will be flying again soon. |

Re: Hi - Newbie in Sydney Australia
Hi, I'm in Sydney also.
My suggestion would be to buy a secondhand sailboat around 21-26 ft and start gaining experience and confidence with that (even if only for 12 months). It's one thing to hire a boat but another to make a boat your own. Plus making mistake (like we all do) on a smaller boat is usually far less expensive. :thumb: |
