Hopefully future liveaboarders
Hello to all!

My wife and I will hopefully be looking to buy a houseboat or something in the future, but not near future. Probably 40+ in length, no sail, but able to motor places. Although we just started looking, as it was a thought, wouldn't it be cool to live on a boat, on a lake and just anchor out anywhere...

So the research begins... type of boats, marinas, slips, insurance, age of boats, weather ability, fresh/salt, and how much boat/space do we really need. This is my first forum for research and sure their will be others and facebook.

Hopefully we will find some locally that are for sale in the Oklahoma area, that we can just look at for now, as we are not in any position to jump into the water just yet.

Rent a pontoon boat, must be some on a lake near you. Try it for awhile. Most couples end up leaving boat living. Usually the husband is the dreamer and talks her into it. Life is harder on a boat. You haul everything across a dock, sometimes in the rain or snow. If you don't have laundry aboard, you haul that, too. The galley is smaller than most kitchens with less than half the cupboard space. Way less than half the closet space. Boats are colder in the winter and hotter in the summer. All that said, I wouldn't live anywhere else.

Inland you need full sewage and grey water hookups. You can't put even sink and shower water in most lakes and some rivers.
