Introducing myself
Been around boats for many years, but it's been all freshwater. Now moving to a bigger boat and and salt. I'm here to learn. I suspect that there will be a steep learning curve. Thanks!

Re: Introducing myself
Well, welcome to CF. With luck, we can help with flattening the learning curve a bit, so ask away when you have questions. You will likely get lots of advice, some of which may be good. Your job then is to decide which is valid and which is BS... a thorny question, but with some diligence you will find which posters to respect and which to ignore... good fun!
And thanks for filling out your profile. So many new CFers fail to do this... the basic info there sure helps us when answering questions. Enjoy! Jim |
Re: Introducing myself
Welcome aboard Nortonguy! I can't imagine the learning curve is whole lot steeper in salt water than fresh! Except that you may really miss those days when you didn't have to worry about corrosion so much:biggrin: Got any shots of your Tayana? That's a great way to get introduced to and familiar with the bigger saltier ponds!

Re: Introducing myself
Hi, I am a kiwi guy that can sail anything with a sail, I own a 20-foot trailer sailer (Alan Wright Tasman 20) and a 1961 16 foot Hartley (the first yacht to be called a trailer sailer). I have campaigned a 12 footer and a Javelin in my younger years.

Re: Introducing myself
I was an aircraft mechanic for 25 years. Had a Norton motorcycle. Worked in a small shop and would sometimes wear a jacket with a Norton patch on the back. One day the owner of the aircraft I was working on came in and was asking me about a problem. Later he was talking to the boss and said " Norton says...
