Wife & I purchased '83 Catalina 22 a couple years ago and have been learning to sail on local lakes and rivers. Been slowly upgrading and repairing as needed. When confident enough we hope to trailer down and sail along the Florida coast and in the Great Lakes and ICW. We are not retired but have plenty of time to take off work for week or two week adventures throughout the year.
Joined forum today in hopes of learning more about ICW and coastal cruising and whatever else I can.
We are having a good time and learning so much.
Prior to sailboat I only have jonboat and kayak experience and wife has none.
Thanks for any advice!

Re: Hello!
Welcome aboard.
Small boat for sailing along the Florida Coast.
Make sure you have plan B, C, etc.
In the summer we have plenty thunderstorms that can pop up on short notice with 40-50 knot winds and you can Get pushed onto Shore on into boat or ship traffic.
In the winter we have cold fronts with high winds clocking around 360 degrees.
Surely it can be done saefley if you are well prepared with good seamanship and good equipment.
Otherwise, baby steps:)
