Veneering walls
Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has attempted to cover the fake plastic wood used in some sailboats with veneer? The walls are shiny and in good shape but I think a real wood veneer would look much better. My question is what would be better, contact cement or pre-glued veneer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |
Re: Veneering walls
A nice, heavy vinyl wallpaper, with a texture, does wonders. Easy to apply, lasts a long time, easy to clean, brightens up the interior.
It's been so long that I pasted vinyl to the fake wood bulkheads that I? don't remember what glue I used. Make sure to use ammonia to degrease the surfaces and maybe scratch a bit on edges with sandpaper. Do not need to use contact cement, that makes it very difficult to get smooth, I think some heavy duty wallpaper paste, vinyl base would do. Maybe Sherw. Will'ams Paints can guide you best. |
